Great challenging cours
Lay out is great, greens roll true. Would put this one on your list of must play
Cart path only: Course was dry even the rangers said it was crazy that it was cart path only. The one ranger said that the greens keeper, was a *** hole. According to the step counter had to walk @ 11500 steps. I do not mind walking and I am 70. I do mind walking in 90+ hear with an index of @ 100. Plus the pro shop staff think they are doing you a favor for allowing you to play there. BTW I did shoot my HCP which is 14.
Course slowly going down
This used to be the best course you can play in Maryland. It still has the pro layout. The conditions have decreased. The greens were slow. The tee sand traps not as nice as they used to be. I would still recommend this course, just because of the layhout.
Challenging track-always
It has been a few years since playing there last, but course was great. Rough was think and difficult to find balls at times, so definitely a penalty. Walking is tough as it is hilly and even with push cart , walking through rough was an effort. Greens rolled pretty true and were receptive on approach shots. They looked faster then they were. Only 18 was rolling extremely quick, the rest were not that fast but in good shape, just expected to be rolling like 11-12 (like when i played the course last)and they were not.
Great Day Out
Many greens not in the best condition, dead areas and other grass types filled in, course has many great holes, will test your ball striking, staff very helpful, worth the drive from all areas.
Once Upon A Time
Once upon a time Bulle Rock was the best of the best public access and also held its own with the best of the private tracks. Played last fall and again today…while still a quality course, no longer a stand out. Conditions good, but not great. Once pure and lightning quick greens have given way to greens you can find most anywhere. I suppose when you set the bar so high for so long, not easy to maintain. The mystique is gone…so many comparable to better options.
Always a pleasure to play such a notable golf course!
Bulle Roack Review
I have played multiple Pete Dye courses and this one was my favorite. It was not all tricked up like most of his courses. Around the greens and off the fairways can be challenging, but the fairways are very wide, so if you keep it in the fairway then it is not a problem. Greens rolled nicely and were somewhat easy to read. Definitely need to have touch around the greens if you miss the green.
Good but typically great.....
Bulle Rock is Bulle Rock. One of the premier courses in the area and has held up over the past 20 years. I have never played in which the greens were this slow or untrue. Not sure if due to heavy rains the night before or another reason but not up to the previous high standards. Appeared not to be rolled or cut earlier in the day. With that being said, all other course conditions as what I have come to expect. Carts paths only on a beautiful day. Even with the subpar greens and paths only, still no other private or public course in the area measures up to the Pete Dye gem.
Great course
Enjoyed the course. It was quite challenging, and played a bit tough, but the course was in great shape.
My favorite, in the mid Atlantic area
Rough was brutal !!!!!!!
Greens were fast and very challenging
The course and the restaurant were better
