Anchors Away

Terrific Flynn course with a great layout built over rolling terrain. The greens are raised and quite undulating. Must play if you get the chance.

Midshipmen Gem

A William S. Flynn gem in Annapolis. The home course for the Midshipmen is currently in the process of raising money for a course restoration/renovation. Already complete is a brand new, perfect practice putting green and chipping area. Eventually, will re-do items on every hole on the course.

Ironically, there are no holes along the Bay (for the Naval Academy). However, the terrain moves nicely and the routing is excellent. Greens are relatively small as would be expected for a course of this age (shrinkage will be reclaimed in the restoration). Some narrow fairways require strait drives and solid approach shots.

A very nice course that is a treat to play. Can't wait until the changes to the course are complete, will be even better and maybe bring national acclaim.

Challenging - but (mostly) fair

Great layout; nice mix of holes (elevation changes, doglegs, narrow/open, long/short).
Front nine requires length more than accuracy; back nine requires accuracy more than length.
Course was in great condition after a week of persistent rain; including tees, fairways, rough, bunkers and greens.
Greens were FAST - and many pins were set back &/or on slopes.
Overall a wonderful experience - and I was able to shoot a good number thanks to some great putts.

If you get the chance play this course

One of the best courses in Anne Arundel County, all about angles and placement with second shot placement being the most critical component. Very hilly for a coastal course which makes it fun.

In good shape right now but usually better. Sometimes the greens are perfect and super fast.
