Pretty easy track
The course is set right next to the Choptank. The day we played the wind was blowing hard off of the river, it eases once you get inland a bit. The track is very flat and holes line up and down. Some greens to tees are spaced quite far apart so walking might be less fun.
The fairways were in good shape despite really heavy rain a day or two before. The greens present the biggest challenge as they have a lot of undulation and the pin positions made the most of it. All the greens were in reasonable shape and most were better than that. The surface is a little slow but quite true to putt on.
Great value
Will play. again friendly staff. Great value for your money.
Wonderful Staff and Course
The greens are very smooth, and challenging( which is fun). The grass is nicely manacured and cut to appropiate lengths. The staff is very friendly and guides first timers. They really give you a good idea on what to expect. The experience is worth the money.
Some improvements and it could be really nice
The course was extremely wet so I expect the course could be improved by better drainage - bunkers were really pools of water - very little sand. Some of the holes were really nice - with water dog legs and pin placements tucked away.
Very challenging greens!
Short and scorable if you hit good tee shots, but the small and undulating greens protect par on this mature course. Very fun track, and a great value!
A Challenge
A nice little rural course. 6500 from the tips. Greens are small and roll very well. It is a casual, underplayed, undiscovered gem. Guess that's a "diamond in the rough":lol. I like it.
Good round
I had not played this course in two years. There was a change in ownership and it was not as welcoming to non members. My experience today was excellent.the course was in very good shape and the staff were very friendly. I will play there again. I am a seasonal resident in MD. and cannot become a member . I would like to see courses make accomadations for seasonal residents as they do in Florida. This course did that previously.
Fun experience, great value, will play again!
Excellent course and great value, will play here again.
Very pleased
The atmosphere at this golf course is excellent. The staff are first class! Bruce and the owners work very hard to care for the course and give you an excellent experience. Very friendly people who go out of there way to please. I would highly recommend this course which also has a beautiful view of the Choptank River. Thanks
A Lot of Potential
This course has tremendous potential. It sits on some beautiful property, the Choptank River running along some holes, woods on many others. No highways within ear shot. I have played this course several times over the past four years or so. It's main problem has always been course condition. This time was no different. For instance, most of the sand traps had no sand in them and don't look like they have been touched yet this year. The course was sold last year. I was hoping the new owner was buying it to upgrade the course and not because it's just valuable property. They are doing some things, like removing dead or fallen trees, but it appears the maintenance staff is very short-handed. There was no one in the office when I arrived to check in, and one of the maintenance guys had to ride in from the course just to check me in. It appeared I was the only golfer on the course. It appears this is a chicken or the egg situation. Do you invest what money you have set aside on upgrading the course and have few golfers, or do you spend some of that capital on marketing in hopes you'll attract more golfers and improve cash flow while making the improvements. Other than offering discounted rates on Internet sites such as this, I have seen nothing on this course. Even though the name has changed from last year, I couldn't even find a Facebook page. Facebook pages are free to set up and maintain. With a dedicated salesperson, I could see many tournaments played here. Great for the course because they'd make some money, and great for the charity because they'd probably be able to get some of the best tournament rates around and, in the end, make more for their charity.
staff was unwelcoming
The guy at the pro shop treated us as he didn't want us there and he didn't want to be there, for a golf course that wasn't getting much play, you would think they would be a little more welcoming to a couple of newcomers to the course.Even as we left, we walked past him and he never ask how we liked the course or even tell us to have a good night.Never see me there again.
Felt like a course in Ocean City, MD
Outstanding view of the trees and the river, Choptank.
It took almost two hours to get there. We got there about 20 minutes late but the friendly staff didn't raise a question and let us play. Will play there again!!!
Beside the bird droppings that were everywhere, it was a good place to spend hours playing 18 holes of golf. The Canadian goose will fly away next month and we are going to try again then.
Clearview at Horne's Point is now Choptank River GC
Although the course recently changed ownership, I found the course to be in good shape, and well maintained.
The greens were in excellent condition, however not sure what was going on with the 17th green, as it was partially covered with sand. The staff was friendly, and pace of play was at 3 1/2 hrs. for 18 holes
You should play
I don't understand why nobody was here. The course is in great shape. Greens, fairways and tees were great. The course is wide open for those slicers and only a few water holes to be concerned about. It's easy to locate and just minutes from downtown. Try it and you will see.
nice course
Very friendly staff, Kid friendly. Will be visiting this course again
Well kept, great view of water
It was fairly difficult for women! Lots of tall grass in rough, plus shorter fairways , lots if grass in front of tee box, thick grass for mostly 70-80 yds! Greens were tricky, lots of slope, plus a little bumpy!
This course is very poor and needs work
Driving range is poor conditions needs actual grass to hit from and not holes every where. Staff was not friendly and just seemed rude and only cared about your money. Course is poor and the greens are terrible. Holes and sand all over the greens, not even playable sand traps cause it's all rock hard. Driving range is poor and needs real golf grass not crab grass and sand. Overall not worth 30 dollars to play 9 holes maybe worth 20.
Excellent value, beautiful location on the Choptank!
At first glance the course appears wide open and defenseless. However, well placed trouble includes water, sand bunkers and trees that jump out and grab off line shots! We teed off @ noon on Sat and sailed around in 3 hours. Enjoyed ourselves so much we returned the next day, same time with the same result!
Course needs help
understand new ownership coming in. Greens were in terrible shape and seems like not a lot of money is being put into course. Course layout is nice and fairways were in good shape.
