Eisenhower revisited
I had not played this course for nearly 20 years. It is in excellent conditions. It was redone during the pandemic. They have removed all bunkers, not one bunker in the entire course, trees and water hazards are still there. The value is unsurpassed in the NCR on a weekend for an 18 hole course.
Over priced
The course was in better condition and a better deal before the renovations. The tee boxes are horrible, the fairways too dry, and the greens were aerated and horrible.
Nice day out on the golf course
First time playing at the renovated Preserve at Eisenhower since it reopened in May 2021. Starter was great; found us on the driving range and offered us the chance to tee off early due to a no-show so we were fortunate enough to start early. Interesting layout with no sand bunkers -- hummocks were added during the renovation. Can't say I missed the sand. The tees and fairways were very rough looking - we were advised they have bermuda grass that hasn't come back yet for the year. Greens were in good condition. Surprisingly, there wasn't a single ball washer that I saw throughout the day. Also, it was cart path only the day we played and the cart path is quite a way from some of the tee boxes. Both misses from my perspective since if you were starting over and renovating, it seems like it would make sense to put the cart paths closer to the tee boxes. Distance markers were in the cart path, which was helpful-- especially because we learned mid-way through the round that the course doesn't reflect properly on our GPS watches which have the courses pre-loaded and you select one from the list-- as if the new holes haven't been properly updated in the GPS golfing world system? The temporary club house has only a single bathroom-- which held us up at the turn. Yes, there are port-o-johns nearby but something to be aware of. The course has a unique color system for their tee markers- with men playing from the blue or green (unless you are great enough to play the Eisenhower tees) and women from the gold or white, with the white being the shortest (and in my opinion, too close so I'd recommend ladies play the gold tees). Just different from other courses so you may want to look at yardages before you start. During our round, we saw what could have been an eagle doing some fishing runs and also saw some other nice wildlife around the water areas. Last thing of note--- unlike every other course I've ever played at, you can't take a golf cart to your car to load up before or unload after the round. And, it's a walk with your bag down the hill to get to a cart or up a hill after you return the cart. So, if you have the chance, think about where you park-- unlike what we did! We made a special trip to go and check in at the pro shop right when we arrived, so we got to walk the hill a couple times, too- don't recommend doing that.
$85 round for a $15 course
I would not recommend this course.
Fairways were dead grass, the layout was awful, it was cart path only and the ground was incredibly dry, and holes 16 - 18 were swarming with horse flies. Save your money instead of playing here.
The fairways just aren’t that good yet probably to early in the year
Preserve at Eisenhower
This course was such a delight! We walked the Greens (69.5/114) on a Wednesday morning and didn't see another soul in sight until about the 15th hole. The greens are large and in great condition and the fairways are fairly generous. It seemed like the tee boxes on the par 3s could use a bit of love, but everything else was excellent. The layout of a few holes is a bit quirky, but definitely in a fun way that forces you to be creative in plotting out how to attack the hole. There are no houses on or anywhere near the property, and the course removed all the bunkers during the renovation - a welcome novelty! I also loved the 5 par 3s and 5 par 5s, including a stretch on the back 9 with six straight holes without a par 4. The staff and starter were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make sure our round was everything we hoped it would be; it was an all-around wonderful experience and I'd definitely return next time I'm in MD.
