Rainy day and greens were real fast
Rainy day, but still had a great time. Surprised how fast the greens were with the rain. Would recommend course.
neewood after dark
played needwood on tuesday after work. tee time was 515, the weather was so good i had to play. starter had us tee off on the back, which was fine, the back is a little harder, so i knocked those out first, and was ready to be aggressive on the front. due to the weather and probably some over booking, the first 9 holes took us 2 and half hours, and we were just a 2some. lucky for us the front was wide open when we made the turn. we blew threw the first 7 holes, before it got pretty dark, the last 2 holes we pretty much played in the dark. but we finshed and no one complained or rolled there eyes. i had a great round and a good time. course isnt worth $85 on sunday morning, but definitely worth $30 on a weekday afternoon
Always nice to play
Needwoood is a nice track that offers challenge but also forgives. The grounds crew really works hard to make sure the course is in great condition and they were very attentive to the course when I played (hot day). Bunkers have been filled with new, powdery sand and the greens were in perfect shape. For a busy course, I was impressed with the conditions. It's very hilly, though walkable for those who are in good shape. Do NOT walk the course on hot days, however. The only negative was that the cart girls just drove around the course and never stopped to ask if we wanted anything. Clearly they were new on the job.
Great value
Well maintained, friendly staff, a great value for the Golfnow.com Hot Deals price
Good layout
Greens n fairways in good conditions.. Some bunkers could use work
Needwood always delivers
I have played this course for years and it is one of my favorite courses since it never fails to provide a chanllenge and enjoyment. The course is very well maintained. Although not extremly long it still have enough challenges to keep good golfers coming back.
Worst group I have ever been paired with
Other than the group I started out with the course was rather enjoyable. As a low handicapper I do not appreciate getting stuck with a threesome with two of which hadn't played in two years. After the first three holes we were already two full holes behind the group ahead of us. The ranger was around but did not do anything. I wanted him to say something to our group it was so bad. They weren't only bad they were slow. After the third hole I took my bag off of the cart and started walking out ahead of them. To put how bad this is into perspective, I am recovering from a pinched nerve in my back and I chose to carry my bag, rather than continue to play with this group. I was -1 through 3 but after I started to carry my bag the round went downhill as my back tightened up. It wasn't a bad course, I just wish their rangers would do something when they saw groups slowing down pace of play. Course was in good shape for a public course.
Needwood Golf Course
Fun course but very slow play. Forced our twosome to join a third and although the skill levels matched he was a very slow player.
Great course
Excellent value the course is in great shape. The back nine is a little tougher than the front. I'll definitely play it again during my stay in the area!
Friendly Confines
Solid golf course but I would wait a few weeks for the greens to grow in if you want smooth putting surfaces.
Go Needwood
First day of the season.. Course booked all day. We played at 4:30 and the pace was good. The cafeteria was closed, but the guy at the register went up to get our beers. Starter always friendly.
Would like a full restaurant here.
Late Sunday round
Practically had the course to myself. A very fun course with a challenging back nine. Beautiful fall evening.

Easy course, slow flat greens, play was just a little slow
Easy course, slow flat greens but it took a while to get our 18 in. Would go back if i can find another deal on golfnow.
enjoyed experience playing with son. course in good condition. staff friendly.
Enjoyed playing with son. Good value. Staff friendly . Course well maintaned/open but moderately challenging especially back nine.. Will be back.
Played 100 times.
Needwood is a nice public course usually in good condition. Some very challenging holes. More fairly easy holes. Problems: #16 is a blind tee shot. I was hit by a drive when the group behind let it rip without checking the landing area. #17 is a short par 3 that could be a short par 4. They should make the change. And last thing, the geese can make it a disgusting mess. Get the trained dog back!. Fees are a little high at retail rate, with any discount it's a great value.
