Good Condition
I haven't played Hog Neck for almost two years...the last time, it was in rough shape. This year, it was in good condition...the fairways were full (no browning out or dirt patches), and the rough was thick and penal. Some of the tee boxes were spotty with dirt patches and crab grass, and the greens were lumpy and slow. The pace of play was excellent...the parking lot was full when we got there, but they had spread folks out with 10 minute tee times and players played quickly. We were done in 4 hours on a Saturday morning! And, the staff is always welcoming and helpful. The front nine runs along Rt. 50, which was a bit loud and lots of planes from the local airport; but the back nine was quiet. The layout is almost like the "tale of two nines"...they are very different. This is a nice course and in good shape given all the heat Worth the hour+ drive occasionally. (Traffic was horrendous, though traveling back to the western shore...ugh!)
This was the first time I played since they converted from meters to yards. Friendly staff and Starter. Players seem to forget to repair ball marks on the greens here. Otherwise, course was in great shape. Weather has been in 90's for several weeks and no burned out areas.
Subtle elevation changes with raised greens from fairway required 1/2 to one more full club on many holes,.
Great course in good shape
Two different nines. Course is in very good shape. Definitely worth playing. Front nine is open and back nine is tree lined and long.
Due to recent rain, course was cart path only.
This said, tee shots got little to no roll out.
Course played long.
However, multiple
tee boxes offer options for all golfers.
Greens rolled perfect and ALL were in excellent shape!
Played as single and completed round in 3 1/2 hours.
Really nice golf course
The golf course was in really good shape. I haven't played this course in many years. The first green scared me because it had lots of marks and was very bumpy. All the other greens were in great shape. It had rained really hard the day before so the course was very wet. I love the layout. the front is open and the back 9 is much harder with tree lined tight fairways. All in all a very nice course.
Hog neck
Onside ring it rained 3 inches the course was in good shape
Hog Neck 7/2
Hog neck golf course is my favorite local course to play. It's a great value if you play evening hours. The staff is always accommodating oh, the course layout is great and of course conditions are good. Today was the first time this year that some of the greens were kind of rough. Still my favorite local course.
Excellent value and tough layout
Most importantly all the staff were pleasant and helpful. The course wasn’t too busy and the starter let me go out As a single ahead of the group I was paired with. I flew around the front and joined up with another single on the back.
The course was in excellent shape. Tees and greens were free of blemishes. The greens rolled well and were fast enough that I had to respect downhill putts. This course is tough when the wind blows and that was the case on the front, which is quite exposed to the wind. I prefer the back because it is more tree-lined and feels more secluded than the front where you have holes hard by the highway. Overall an excellent value as this is a big course with some challenging holes. The GPS cart worked great and is a must if you aren’t familiar with the course because otherwise you won’t be able to tell from the tee where the water comes into play.
Love Hog Neck golf course
I play hog neck whenever I can because it's a great value for the money. Everything about it is top of the line. The only problem I had it all today was the grass was a little long. I highly recommend hog neck.
Excellent Experience
I rarely write reviews on golf courses...but the crew at this course was so pleasant and went above and beyond. I met up with 2 friends and we all came from over an hour away to meet at the course. We reserved a tee time for 2 instead of 3 by mistake. The pro-shop and starter were incredibly understanding and made it work for us to play together. It is such a pain in the butt move and I was really thankful they could make it happen.
The course was in great shape and provided a a great experience for us.
