Well Worth the Hour Drive!!
Hog Neck is situated in a wonderful part of Talbott County. The course is laid out perfectly providing elevation changes that will challenge. The greens were quite slick but in good condition. Also, the placement of many of the fairway bunkers are situated along the "average" driving distance. For the long hitters, you can get passed them, but for those 200-250 off the tee, you'll want to be more precise with your drives. The tall pines are a player on a few of the holes, especially on the back. It seemed to me, the course plays a bit longer than you think as I found myself scratching my head on "why" do I have 180+ to reach in regulation. A for sure "Go Play"! A++
Course was very nice. However, the cart path needs upgrading.
A fantastic Muni!
Hog Neck is consistently in good to great shape at any point in the year. The fairways are tight but just fluffy enough to not be intimidating, and the greens generally roll fast-ish but true.
The front 9 has the traditional open Parkland style that you can find on most older courses in the area (Hoopers, Green Hill, Prospect Bay, etc), but the back 9 gets tighter and more technical. Long hitters will have some forced layups, but it keeps the round challenging.
The staff have always been friendly, but if you expect VIP treatment, keep in mind that these are County employees, not your servants.
My only complaint is that the range needs more targets within 150yds to practice approach shots, but thats the case with most courses.
Best Value in the Area
Great course. Great staff. Great amenities. Love it here
Hogneck
The driving range could be better/great if they let you hit off the grass not the old mat turf! The staff needs to be nicer and smile .
too slow
Course play was horrible due to a tournament that took place in the morning, also the cups were very ragged, Probably won;t play there again
Great day
All in all, it was a great day but had a foursome in front of us, slow slow slow, it took over 5 hours to play. other than that, Fantastic!
Hog Neck and my memories.
I have been traveling to Easton , to play Hog Neck for over 45 years. And up until last year, my friend and I always played back tees. That is a brutal test of golf. So we still enjoy the course, but now we play one more tee box forward. I am 72 and my friend is 65.
