Course is fun and not overly challenging
I used to play this course all the time when I was a kid. Going back and playing again, it was just like old times and the course is still in great shape. Staff is super friendly and I had a great time on the course, I'll definitely be back soon!
Great Value
Great value, good set of par 3's and a number of really challenging par 4's. I will be back.
Friendly layout with room for improvement
Got a rate +50% rack and at that price it was well worth the money. Apparently it's under new management and its apparent past management was subjecting this course to some neglect. The greens, particularly on the back 9 were clearly not maintained for years. This is partially the blame of fellow golfers as there were countless unrepaired ball marks that were let to sit and take their toll. Course is open and play pretty well. Drives left and right stay in play for your next shot. Some tough par 3's (200+ yds.) and one monster par 5 added some difficulty to the round.
Bottom line, if you can get a good rate on golf now I'd say go for it, but probably not worth the $60 rack rate for a Friday afternoon
The fairways were well maintained
The fairways were great and there is great space for mishit balls. The tee boxes were ok but not usually level.
The pace of play was great as we usually did not wait, but this was weekday play. The greens played well, but I did not make my putts this particular day.
I do not recall the correct date, but it was a Wednesday during the Month of May 2013.
I liked the course
Play it before it becomes a development in a few years.
I have played this course quite a few times over the last two years. It is always fun and reasonably challenging. Lots of trees, plenty of water (a few ponds and creeks), doglegs and some unforgiving slopes to avoid. The design is superb, but there are some signs of the financial problems that caused its bankruptcy and recent sale to new ownership. The fairways are a bit spotty, and some of the greens are in pretty bad shape (17 and 18 come to mind, but none were pristine). Also, the sand in the traps could use some refreshing. The rough was thick, but not terribly long, having just been cut.. Be forewarned, however, that much of the rough is clover and you really, really don't want to be there. I had a ball that was virtually invisible unless you were right on top of it, and the depth of the rough was only about 1-1/2". Getting a club on a ball like that is a real challenge.
Anyway, despite some condition issues I highly recommend this course, and unfortunately it may go under the developer's bulldozer within just a few years. Play it while you have the chance, and with the golf-now discounts it's a bargain.
Very Dissapointing
The "new management" would not honor the previous Groupon I purchased. They did not "purchase" the liabilities. What a joke. And the course is in extremely poor condition. The greens are bumpy and uneven and the fairways are essentially clumps of weeds.
Fun course
Outstanding service from staff. Course was fun to play with it's challenging water and bunkers. The groundhogs, geese, and rabbits were an extra treat!
Staff is courteous - course needs work
Staff was very friendly - they knew if my reservation right away. The course needs some serious work - while most of the greens were in ok shape, most of the fairways were bare dirt down the middle and in need of seeding and water.
Fairways and rough in poor condition. Greens good.
Good challenge. Needs maintenance. Greens are in good condition. No water to drink or clean clubs and balls
Played early in the season and the fairways were in pretty bad shape.
Played early in the season and the fairways were in pretty bad shape. Lots of dead and matted grass. This course is under new management and I will try again late in the season to see if it is in better shape. Paid $25 for a round and for the condition of the course, I felt it was a little overpriced. One hole was missing a flag and the cup was above the ground. Greens were in very good shape and were nice and consistent.
Fairways and Location Terrible. Play somewhere else
My 3rd or 4th round here. They have really let the place go. Fairways were absolutely atrocious. Tee boxes as well. Greens surprisingly were in pretty good shape. Course is extremely interwoven with the surrounding community. To the point where little girls with their grandfathers will hop into your golf cart requiring you to sprint over and pull the keys as to avoid a potential disaster. You may have guessed it, but I 3 putted that green (the 10th). On a separate occasion 2 girls were sitting on a tee box (17th) chatting away as we tried to tee off. After telling them to be quiet (totally ignored) I hooked one OB left (double bogey). Will not return to this course. No marshals to keep locals at bay. Sad considering pretty interesting layout with lots of different kinds of holes. Don't even mind the few unsightly power lines. On the bright side the staff was great.
Reasonably Good Course
The course design is good and it was fun to play. The course is somewhat run-down and the lawn was mostly yellow, but the price was quite reasonable. The course is not congested either. Electricity transmitting wires and towers in the course were annoying, but man can get used to it.
Course was in bad shape even for off s Eason. Greens were ugly but fast
Course was in bad shape even for off season. Greens were ugly but fast. Went to the grill afterward. Food was terrible soup cold, bread soggy, salad was lettuce with 2 pieces of see thru tomatoes. Felt like I threw my money away. Let there to get something to eat elsewhere.. To be fair they had one you g lady doing everything.
This course has nice features.
Great price for a round of golf in January. Course was in decent condition, staff were friendly, and course provided a good challenge. Would recommend course to others and would like to play again in the spring/summer.
Lack of Etiquette
After playing behind a group of 6 people for 3 holes on the front 9 with myself and another gentleman. I don't think I will be playing this course again. The members are sometimes very rude aswell.
needs work to turn a decent venue into a first-rate one
when asked what shape the fairways were in (because previous reviewers had said they were in poor condition), the guy behind the counter voiced an enthusiastic "they're in great shape." would that were so. the fairways were in poor condition, with many, many hardpan and bare spots, uneven grass, etc.
the course needs to spend some dough on simple fundamentals (no signs pointing toward the next hole on many "blind" turns; few yardage markers in the fairway other than the 200, 150, and 100 markers; sorely beat-up tee boxes).
as is, the course is worth playing for the $25-30 we paid through GolfNow but not worth much more. it would not take big bucks to turn this facility into a much better one.
Still in good shape after Sandy superstorm
I was able to make it to the course on Friday. The fairways were still in decent shape after the storm on Monday, all the bunkers were filled with water. However, the green is still in excellent shape.
The course gives you much bang for your bucks.
THE COURSE WAS WELL MAINTAINED AND HE SUPPORT STAFF VERY CORDIAL. THE ONLY NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE WAS THE TIME IT TOOK ME TO PLAY 18 HOLES - APPROX.
5 HOURS.
THIS WAS DUE TO THE GROUP IMMEDIATELY BEFORE US. THEY WERE QUITE SLOW AND DID NOT GIVE US THE OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY THROUGH.
Good Value
This is a private course that sometimes allows non-members to play, but only through GolfNow or special advertisements. I am not a member, so it was a treat to play at a reduced rate. The course is longish for the high handicap golfer, but it is rather open - it is not target golf. Several of the par 3s were very long - 211 and 190 yds. It was surprising to me that there were many thin spots in the fairway and that the sand in the bunkers was not deep. The layout was a challenge with many hills and doglegs. But, as always, good friends and a good day make for good golf.
