Black Rock Golf Course
About
Black Rock Golf Course may be one of western Maryland's newest courses but it's located near some of the country's most historic sites. Antietam Battlefield and Harper's Ferry are just a few minutes away from this scenic course. The opening holes of the layout are tucked into the Shenandoah Valley while the back nine climbs uphill, offering views that stretch across the Appalachian Mountains. The golf course has plenty of holes that will please long hitters, but mature trees and thick rough frame most of the holes, demanding accuracy. Traps protect the front of most of the greens and you'll come across dramatic undulations on some. The par-4 13th is arguably Black Rock's toughest hole. This sharp dogleg right has a massive tree to the right as well as a pond right in front of the green.

Great Course
Need to have better restaurant facilities -non-existant at the moment
Nice course
Enjoy Black Rock every time we play. A fair challenge. Tough putting!
Great municipal course in Hagerstown
Black Rock golf course is surround by some of the "best" & most pricey golf courses to play in Western Maryland. If you looking to play a challenging & well maintained golf course in the area without the sticker shock, I highly recommend you play Black Rock Golf Course.
Good time
Most bunkers were just hard clay. That’s my only complaint
Love this course
Had a nice outing on a cool December day. Great looking course. Played with some friendly strangers and we had roughly equal abilities and that is always great. Back 9 seemed a little more challenging and because of that was more stacked up with more players for slower play. If the other players who caught up to us gave us more space we would have played a little more faster. Seemed to affect everyone’s game negatively if you’re feeling rushed. Unfortunately for me I was just visiting the area and otherwise would player here more often.
Impressed with course
Tough to fault a course open at this time of the year.
But very nicely maintained and in good shape
It was very well designed course to play with friends and family
There was couple of blind tee shot but over all well designed and well maintained course. I will play again
Perfectly Conditioned
Originally purchased a GolfNow round for two on Saturday, October 16. Unfortunately, it started raining buckets about two hours prior to our tee time. The club is about 45 minutes away, so we called the pro shop and they graciously issued a rain check for a later date. We were able to utilize it for our weekday round on a Wednesday. They honored the rain check and also issued a nine-hole rain check because of the difference between the weekend round we originally booked and the weekday we played. This was unexpected and greatly appreciated. As for the course, let me say this: we play as many different courses as we can get to, mostly on the eastern seaboard. This year, we have also played in New England, southern Florida, and Hawaii. Black Rock was by far the BEST CONDITIONED and BEST KEPT course we have played this year. The fairway grass was perfect, the rough was not unfair, the bunkers had plentiful, decent sand. One or two greens had bad spots, but they were small and did not interfere. As for difficulty, the greens are postage-stamp-size and were very fast. When one was fortunate enough to land on one, the ball tended to roll off. The course challenged you to make your shot if you wanted to score low. Kudos to the superintendent and staff for making the course great and our afternoon very pleasurable. We'll be back!
