Great deal
Course is in great condition and the price is excellent too. I would to play this course again at this deal.
Great Muni Play
Got a hot deal here for $16 with a cart, which is a great deal to begin with. Never had played here before but it makes a great first impression. Relatively easy course with some holes that will challenge the best of golfers. Open fairways and playable rough make it fun to shoot and a nice mix of short and longer length holes from the whites. Shoot my second ever round in the 70's here so I definently will be back!!
Course was acceptable. Worth the fees.
Played a few days after aeration which caused issues on the greens. But, that was expected. Club staff discounted the fee due to the aeration. Good of them.
Found the T boxes in poor shape as they were sloped and left a uneven standing area.
Fairways needed a bit moe water and the sand traps were different from trap to trap. Some had more sand then others. Hard to judge how far to hit from or close to the ball.
Great Conditions
The Course was in great condition and played very quickly.
Great course for the money.
Booking this course online was a no brainer! The course condition was good. The pace of play slowed just a bit at times, but, then our foursome tends to play rather fast.
We will look on golf now for this course, again!
Just ok
Played from tips only 6600, greens and fairways inconsistent, and if your course isn't in great shape right now like 90% of courses in this area your in wrong business. Price was good but for a few dollars more play clustered spires or northwest .
Fairways are being renovated
Rattlewood offers good variety with their course layout. There are three holes that bring water into play. Some of the bunkers are well sanded but a few need some attention. They are currently changing over to (I believe) burmuda grass on the fairways and there are presently four fairways that can not be ridden on with a golf cart besides the par threes. It is definitely a course to return to with its "Country Charm" and a get away from it all feel.
Great Muni
They are in the process of replacing fairways 1,5,10 & 15 with Bermuda grass. They have already done this on a couple of holes like 18 and it is very nice. Will be an even greater course when they are finished.
New bermuda grass is fantastic
I would play there anytime. Complimentary small bucket of range balls to warm up with as well
Under construction
Rattlewood is going through renovations on 5 of their fairways right now as they are putting in bermuda grass. These holes have temporary tee boxes and are playing as par 3s. Staff is outstanding. Course itself is average
Changing the fairways to bermuda
Four holes were closed due to changing the grass in the fairways to Bermuda. They did have temporary par threes set up on those holes, as the greens were not under construction. All in all it is a nice course and a nice layout, but be prepared to play six par threes out of 18 holes. If you can play it for cheap, it's still worth it and you will have a fun time.
Nice course
Always a great course to play, it's open, well maintained and isn't engulfed by a community. This time around though they were re-doing the fairways on 4 holes which they turned into short par 3's. no mention of this when booking! Other then that the other holes were fine! Greens were slightly beat up with ball marks but we did get a fair amount of rain the past week so there soft. Fix your ball marks people! Greens rolled true though and were quick. Sand traps could use some attention, and some gravel clearing, plenty of rocks. Still a nice track.
Good value and fun!
There was no ranger as far as we could see. A painfully slow beginner group caused a lot of other groups to quit and give up. It was still over 5 hours. The course is really nice and well maintained. It is worth checking out at least once. I plan to play it again.
rattlewood - slammed sunday
the course was in very good condition, greens were smoking fast, and the fairways were solid, allowing tee balls to roll out a good ways. but it was sunday, and my group and every other group on the course were crammed in like sardins. everyone who owned golf clubs was there, i saw jeans, tee shirts, two-somes with 1 set of clubs. you expect a big crowd on sunday, but not like that, i witnessed another golfer drive over to my ball, from a different hole and smack it, without even looking at the ball for an identifing mark. i was disappointed at the rate of play and the ignorance of the other golfs
great value
I play at Rattlewood several times a year. The course is well maintained most of the time. I think it is one of the best courses when it comes to the value of the money. The course layout is not that difficult, but enjoyable. The pace of play on weekends is slow, but can't complain because it is the same at the most of public courses around. I prefer to play on weekday afternoons when a day gets longer.
Decent Layout, Bad Condition
I've played this course many times in the past, and within the last few months. The problem with the course conditions have to do with the greens and some of the fairways. The greens were recently aerated but they should have recovered by now. Not only were they not recovered but they seemed to be in worse condition than they were back when they first aerated. They are very lumpy and have not been properly rolled. I would not recommend this course with the current conditions.
Another problem was that the course wasn't properly marshaled. There was a single, playing behind a twosome, and we were a 4-some playing behind both. We were waiting on several tees, which was not acceptable, especially for weekend golf. The single should have been paired with the 2-some, which would have made the pace of play more acceptable.
Course was under construction but still really enjoyed it.
First. time playing this course. Very impressive besides the couple holes under repairs. Staff was very friendly and welcoming.
Hope you like playing in the wind.
This course is for giving. Always windy at this course. It's a fun course to play.
Early season condition issues
The greens were recently drilled and sanded - I guess that's what you should expect this time of year. There are also a couple of huge areas of what appears to be zoizia sod - completely brown and sort of disconcerting, although they provide a decent lie from which to hit. The course overall is very dry and hard. A ball hit into deep rough actually bounced high a couple of times. Balls in the fairway bounce high and run far.
The greens here are quite small and most are very well protected. They also have some complex shapes to them, making for some challenging reads. When I played, many pins were placed quite close to the edges of the greens on the down-slope, making it pretty difficult to get the ball positioned below the hole. As a result, despite the course playing exceptionally short because of how hard the ground was, it still is pretty challenging, although I can't say it's the kind of challenge I enjoy (note to self - continue to work on short game).
Course well laid out and enjoyable to play.
Greens recently aerated but should be in great shape in about 2 weeks. Windy on day we played so course conditions more challenging. Course overall in pretty good shape and good value for booking through web page.
