Reviews
Great Spring Day
After rain/snow for the past 2 weeks, we finally had a nice day in MD. Temp was in mid 50. Went to golf now and found this course 45 min away for 13 bucks!!!! I knew it had me written all over it.
As with other reviews, the tee boxes need some work, but no so bad. Greens where very very nice, but I dont think they cut them yesterday as they seemed alittle long.
Sand bunkers (although I never hit one) seemed to be wet and muddy.
Fairways at this time of the year where in good shape, but come July/Aug I would guess will have some gaps.
Overall, great course for under 20 bucks - they need to spread down some weed killer as it is getting out of hand and cut the greens. On the tee boxes fill in the divits and pick up broken tees once in a while.
All in all a very good day
Towsontigers
Excellent course. The fairways were well groomed and green. The greens for the most part were excellent. A beautiful course to play. I will come back,
Thank you very much for the 5 star review! We are thrilled to hear that you will be back and look forward to seeing you!
A nice layout and lots of potential
Played this course at noon on a beautiful December day. Good driving range for warmup. Really need new carts, mine crawled and seats had large tears. Cart paths in good shape. Most of the tee boxes in poor condition and fairways in less than fair condition with more browned out Bermuda than green turf grass. Some small greens, others huge, all in good shape. Very slow greens and front 9 needed mowing. Bunkers in good shape and all raked. This course is an interesting layout with enormous potential with better care of tee boxes and fairways and some new carts. A good play for the money.

needs upgrade
dont pay full price for a course that needs upgrades. tee boxes are horrible and greens need mowed.

Great Layout for good scores, terrible condition of course
Geneva Farms, ahh where to start. I've played this old goat track so many times. It is lovable and has its interesting holes(17 and 18 come to mind) and its boring ones(most of the back 9). The regular prices are outrageous but if you get it for a discounted rate of 23$ or under I say go play it and see how you like it. The forgivingly wide fairways and huge greens will make you think you are good enough to make up for the 3 putts you will hit because of super slow greens.
Lots of Weeds on Fairway!
Course is out in Harford County-remote-but a busy course. Long fairways but very weedy. Greens are in good shape. Course overall was beautiful and challenging!
Fun, challenging, but leaves some to be desired.
I played this course yesterday after getting an AMAZING deal off of Golf Now (18 holes with fees and cart was $50 for two people.)
The Staff: When I get there, I was told the front 9 was being aerated and only the back 9 was available to play. I could play it twice or receive a partial or full refund. Also, the 12th green went the way of the dodo despite them trying to save it a little earlier in the season. I appreciated them being up front about all the issues and the starter was very curious. The lady working the bar at the restaurant was one of the most pleasant and genuinely kind persons I've ever met. (I'd go back just for her)
The Course: Barring the 12th green, I really enjoyed the course overall. It seemed well taken care of except for a few poor looking bunkers. Catching glimpses of the front 9 as we drove through, it really looked nice and I wished I had the chance to play it.
Overall, I'd definitely go back...assuming I got the Golf Now rate again. For full price, I'm not sure it's quite worth the money and 50 minute drive for me.
Back in the saddle, again!
I used to play Geneva quite alot. I always liked it, just grew away from it. I was happy to be back!
Not bad
It's kinda what you get for the price. Not a tough course good for someone who shoots in the high 90s probably. The greens were rough and the rough seemed like you were playing in a lawn. Not sure where the picture in golf now comes from. A little disappointed but over all not bad if you're close to the course.
Not worth the time
Conditions at this course have always been hit or miss, but it is terrible right now. One green was nothing but dirt and every green was a different speed and almost all of them had clippings on them. Bunkers had grass growing in them and virtually no sand, just dirt. Tee boxes and fairways have been overtaken by crabgrass. Cheap round but not worth a cent in my opinion-a course that has been totally let go.
Crab grass fairways and puddled greens
The ball played OK but all of the fairways were crabgrass. Additionally, even though I played most of the round as a single. The grounds crew kept watering the greens leaving puddles in front of me making it impossible to putt. With room behind me I would have thought as a first time visitor, they could have waited for me to leave and water between a single and a foursome over a hole behind me.
Needs help
Course needs some work. Crab grass throughout the fairways and very little sand in the bunkers. Greens just ok. Couldn't find the starter so we just teed off. I like the layout, but wish they were taking better care of the course.
Wow where did this course go
There is a good chance, I will not be playing again. The fairways were covered with what looked to be mowed down weeds. The rough was extremely long and son lost a few balls that should have been very playable. I have seen this course in so much better shape that it was sad. It use to be one of my favorite track, but I have not been back since and have no intention to unless things seriously change
You get what you pay for...
I had a 6:50 from GolfNow so I could play quickly with no one around and that is what I got so that was nice.
Previous reviews about the guy at the counter pretty much throwing your cart key at you are absolutely true, the guy threw my key across the counter and was not very friendly. He also gave me a sarcastic "Have a great day" as I walked out after giving him a nasty look after getting my key.
The starter was friendly and told me a bit about the course and where the holes were.
The course was very wet and lush which made finding a ball that didn't end up in the fairway very difficult. The greens were extremely slow from being wet but they had also not been cut in a few days. The guy mowing them caught up with me around 12. The worst greens made it pointless to even try to make a putt outside of 15 feet.
Overall the layout is alright, although there are not any memorable holes. Off the tee the course is fairly forgiving, as long as you keep an eye on your ball. There are a fair amount of blind shots on the tee and into the green, probably on half the holes you can not see the cup on your approach.
Also they must have removed the GPS from all of the carts, the wiring it still on the carts but the monitors have been removed. Decent value as long as the course is not crowded and the grass is cut to an appropriate length. I would play again if I were local but I would not go out of my way to play here again.
Hot Course after the Rain
I played on a Sunday afternoon and teamed up with two others, as we were going to be stuck behind some foursomes. The weather was quite hot, and it rained a few times, which cooled things off. But then it got even hotter after the rain stopped. the drink lady was out and about and we saw her several times. The pro shop is always friendly and the facilities are nice, as they have a full restaurant inside as well. The rough is particularly long, but if you keep it in the fairway, you will be okay.
Lots of character
A friend and I went for first time here, for only 15 dollars we couldn't lose. At first tee box thought oh no it was beat up. As we played our round we very much enjoyed it. The layout was nice, with a lot of variety on the holes. Being later in the year not a lot of work being done on the course. The weather was great around 60 it was peaceful we played in 3 1/2 hrs. Will go play again for sure.
ok course great deal
Tall greens slow putting tee boxes off slope but walked it in 2:30 great pace
Maintenance
Nice course. Greens need to be better maintained.
Would return for price.
Course to ourselves
Was overcast so basically had the course to ourselves.......Great day
Great Round
Enough good things can not be said of Geneva Farms the course is in very nice shape, but customer service and restaurant are great. The greens were a little slow and needed to be cut and rolled but I can see where they are trying to grow them in temp for the overall benefit of the course.
We appreciate you taking the time to write a review about your experience with us! We are glad to hear that you had a great day on the course. We hope to see you back again soon!
