"Approach" shot on 13 from middle of "fairway". You have to hit through or around the power poles from 250 out Photo submitted by DrOldSchool on 11/21/2012
Bad experience
Before I explain the title let me just say that the course and staff are not the problem!
The problem was a very slow foursome that had two middle-aged men and two elderly men... not only were they slow (which wasn't the real issue) the were the rudest divas I've ever seen on a course!
If they were good at golf I might have over looked their behavior... but they refused to let us skip ahead because they didn't want my party of TWO to hold them up all day... so, we skipped ahead to the next hole in front of them (12). By the time we were putting on 18 they were still on 14 and just coming to the box in 15!
The guys were basically drunk from what I could tell... I let the staff know but I think it was one of the part-timers... idk!
Needless to say, if you're an average golfer you'll find the course pretty busy, in good shape and very fun to play. Just hope you don't get stuck behind the drunk, delusional, rude Tiger Woods wanna-be (you know the type-really expensive clubs and has a +30 handicap).
Sorry... but, I'll likely avoid a return trip! Shame too... the course and staff are really great!
Course has come a long way since last year under new ownership
Comfortable and beautiful place
The staff is friendly and the course is comfortable. The scenery is amazing!
By a housing development & woods
While it has potential - they need a marshall there as anything goes seemingly. Very different plus inconsistent feels & conditions throughout the course. A bit of Jekyll & Hyde going on there with some of course being by housing development which I dislike a lot & lowlands by woods - very wet. I would say give it shot if you just into spring more. Felt like I may have caught them earlier than it should have been conditions wise for the early season/off season cusp. Drainage is an issue in too much of the course. Not feeling it is worth the over an hour trip to go back there.
Course condition
Maintenance has to be some time, so at the end of winter is reasonable. It will be an improvement after the winter updates. I'm looking forward to playing it again when it is back to full service.
I get it’s winter but…
First time playing the course, no tee boxes I understand it’s winter but the temp tees were in the first cut of rough and extremely uneven this made hitting off the deck and a tee a lot more difficult. Greens were in good shape.
A lot of improvements taking place here. I look forward to playing this summer.
Continuous Improvements
There’s a lot of work being done to the course. Should look great in the spring. The staff are always friendly and helpful
Don’t waste your money
The course was in terrible condition, muddy, wet, & frozen greens for most of our round. You couldn’t even use the actual tee boxes to tee off so they were moved up a hundred yards or more & even where they had them was so sloppy…just a horrible place over all
Not worth the $
They put in the 2024 rates over winter, at a 25% increase. Go elsewhere, as there are better and more cost effective courses closeby.
Not worth the $$$$$$$
Played Dec 8th. They implemented the new 2024 rates (25% increase), even though it is still 2023. They do not have winter rates even though the tees have been moved up, and a much shorter course. play Oakmont for $20 weekdays. Westminster has winter rates and only $15 for seniors.... South Hills is only $17 for seniors, so look elsewhere.
Harassing staff
Very sad when two seniors walking 18 holes during a cold and rainy day are approached about playing extra holes. We were on hole 16 3,5 hours after starting. Bottom line: they wanted to go home... We have played here weekly for seven years driving 40 miles each way. .. no longer... they do not value senior players or loyalty customers. We have switched to South hills...
