What happened
I played this course regularly a few years ago, when I lived in Maryland. We moved to North Carolina in early 2015. I heard the course was sold to an investment team. This course was unrecognizable. It was overgrown and unkempt. It appears to have not been mowed in weeks. Greens were not rolled. There was no water in the stands. Many of the former water stands were now decaying. To top it off the staff was not helpful or responsive. The clubhouse has been rearranged and the service counter is now operating from the
nice round
course could use some maintenance but for 15 I cant complain. number 10 is still without a green, but the rework looks like it will be ready any time. greens are a little rough, fairways and in fairly good shape - nice round for the price
Very poor greens
I wouldn't go back for at least a year until they have time to improve the greens. Fairways were okay at best.
Return to a previously played course
This is a course I've played in previous years, and I understand ownership has changed. In the past, it's been an average course, but a good value. I understand the current ownership is working towards improvements, but they have a way to go. Greens were spotty with bare turf. Bunkers were rough with grass and weeds growing. It's a good layout, and works for all skill levels. A good value with the Golf Now Hot Deal, but I would have to think about paying in season rates until conditions improve. Even though I would recommend this course, I would prepare someone with what to expect.
BAD SHAPE
I last played Marlton about 3 years ago and thought I would give the course another try since they have new owners. Most of the greens were in horrible shape. Some of the bunkers had grass growing in them. No one bothered to unlock the golf cart crossings. Had to go back to the club house after playing hole number 9 to get the key. I had to unlock four of the crossings as I played the back 9. Hole #10 still has a temporary hole in the middle of the fairway.
Overall...the course isn't worth the cost unless you want to use it for practice.
Needs work
While the track is good the Supt. needs to get busy on the fairways, greens & bunkers.
Course Neglected
This has been my Home course for 5 years. The new owners have completely neglected it.
Some of the greens are nearly unputtable.
Barely worth the $12.
Lost Cause
This course is lost, tee to green in sad shape! Tee boxes were mostly dirt and the ones with grass was like hitting out of the ruff! 90% of the greens need to be replaced as they seemed defunct! Fall maintenance seem to be lacking for this time of year but you know what they say, "you get what you pay for" My partner stated the course was in pretty good shape earlier in the summer, kind of hard to believe but i'll take his word.
This course has so much potential, its a awesome track with a great layout but needs someone to put the money in to or it will disappear and I truly hate to see that.
good layout
course is a good layout but conditions were a little rough. Greens were very playable. Fairways had a number of bare spots
A good course gone to ruin
I played this course for 10 or 11 years. The last time I played, I said I wouldn't go back until things got better. From all of the reviews I've seen on various websites, nothing has changed.
When I was there last in September or October, there was more dirt and mud than grass on many of the fairways, tee boxes, and a few of the greens. I'm offended by the responses to the bad reviews, but it seems nothing is getting any better. The off course amenities, other than the driving range, which no longer has grass tees available, are pretty non-existent, other than some food. I'll take my money and drive much farther to play to get a place that values the people that come to play.
Poor and never again
Awful. We should have demanded our money back it was that bad.
We played there in the spring and it was really nice.
Hard to believe it went down that fast.
Poor Conditions
The course was in horrible shape. Played course for several years, never witnessed course is such terrible shape. Nearly unplayable condition.
Thank you for your feedback. We assure you this is not the standard we strive to achieve. We are constantly working on course conditions and look forward to having you back soon.
Marlton Mistake
I thought the deal would be great, but save your money and play elsewhere. The tee boxes are beat up and need to be re-sodded. The fairways need extensive repair. Even though I paid for 18 holes, I only played nine and said it was not worth it. There are lots of better conditioned courses in the area.
Thank you for your feedback and we apologize for your poor experience. We assure you this is not the standard we strive to achieve. We are constantly working on course conditions and look forward to having you back soon.
One of the most poorly maintained courses I've ever played
I played this course last Sunday (8/21/16). My friends and I had an 8:20am tee time.
The Clubhouse: Checking in and paying were easy and the person behind the counter was very friendly. We all purchased some range balls to warm up before our round. The balls were in a large garbage bin in the corner and you had to dig them out with a bucket. The problem was that at least a third of the balls in the bin were split in half from being run over with a mower. So you had to use your bucket to dig out as many balls as you could, pick out al of the broken ones, and then repeat until you had a full bucket.
The Practice Area: The range was pretty standard with plenty of bays for hitting. The range went out to about 250 yards so big drives were definitely going into the woods. They technically did have a grass hitting area in front of the bays but it was closed. It also didn't look like they were repairing it. It was in pretty bad shape (mostly bare with scattered patches of grass). There was also a putting green. When I saw it I told my friends that it wouldn't be worth it to get some putts in. The green itself was bare and bumpy and was *riddled* with weeds. There had to be at least a hundred tiny weeds all over it making the surface bumpy and uneven. In retrospect it would have been a good idea to practice on a green like that because of how the greens were on the course. (more on that later).
The Course:
-Tee Boxes - Every single tee box we hit from was patchy and bare. They were all more sand than grass. In addition, they were not all flat. Some of them had a slope which meant you had to hit with the ball above or below your feet. Either that or you were standing on patchy grass that made the ground under your feet uneven.
-Fairways - The fairways were also patchy. There would be large spaced of grass and then other large places of just mud or dirt with no grass. But the worst part was the weeds. There were thousands of weeds on every single fairway. On one fairway, there were thick clumps of weeds that had just been pushed down by a mower. These clumps were over a foot tall when slightly flattened down. Even if you split the fairway there was still chance that you would have a terrible lie.
-Rough - In many places the rough was indiscernible from the fairway. In many places the rough was cut so short it may as well have been fairway. In other places it was clear that the rough was made up of the weeds that littered the fairway but longer.
-Bunkers - This was the best area of the course hands down. Which is a strange thing to say considering that no one exactly wants to end up in the bunker. Almost every bunker we came to was soft, well raked, and the sand was high quality.
-Greens - I have played at many courses both public and private. These greens were without a doubt the worst greens I have ever played on. Just like the fairways, the greens were patchy and bare. Some greens has very large sections with no grass at all and just bare dirt. Repairing pitch marks was very difficult because the grass was so thin. As I mentioned above, the practice green was riddled with weeds. The greens on the course were no exception. It did not matter if your ball was on line or if it was not. Your ball is guaranteed to run over at least 2 weeds on the way to the hole. The greens also lacked consistency. There were some greens that were lightning fast and some that were painfully slow.
-Course Layout - This is the one positive aspect of the course. I think the overall layout of the course is good. It has long shots, short shots, dogleg rights, dogleg lefts, water features, and elevation changes. The only negative I would say about this is that the par 3s are very short. They were 115 and 103 yards respectively from the whites when we played.
Rate of Play: We were some of the only people out on the course. A group of 4 went out about a half hour before us and there wasn't another until we stepped on the tee. I don't remember seeing another group on the course until we caught up with the guys who went off before us on the 7th.
Price: We originally planned to play 18 holes. The total price for 18 holes and one small bucket of balls was $43.57.
Overall: I will not be playing this course again. The course quality is terrible. Even if you don't care about the score and just want to get out there it is not worth it at this price. We paid for 18 but we ended up playing 9 because we were rained out. However, even before the rain came down at its heaviest we were all considering going in after 9. The general layout of the course is good. But the truly poor quality of the course makes it almost unplayable and not worth it.

Huge disappointment
This course is a great course and layout if it was just maintained properly . Currently, The tee boxes, fairways and greens are the worst I have seen in a while . Tee boxes have very little grass, most are bare dirt. Fairways have large bare spots as well with weeds and grass growing up through them . Greens have grass growing up ward through too, causing you to pull weeds in order to Putt thru your line . Awful conditions . Staff was great and bunkers were in decent shape . Just needs better course management

They should pay you to play...
The course is in terrible condition, don't believe it has seen any type of water other than rain. Dirt tee boxes, non-existent fairways, dirt greens. Played it a couple months ago and the condition was much better, not sure what happened. You should be paid to play here.
Thank you Shane for the review and feedback. We are currently working on course conditions and appreciate you letting us know where we could use the improvements. Please come back and see us again soon with all the new changes.
Not a good day
The course was in very bad shape.
Greens were with very little grass and looked like they were sprayed with paint to simulate a green green but it was far from it.
There is no sand in the bunkers and most are marked as ground under repair.
The fairways are full of crabgrass.
I didn't even finished the round.
Very dissapointed.
This course used to be very playable and in good shape but far from it now.!
Thank you mark for the review and feedback. We are always working on course conditions and we hope you will come back and see all the changes we are making. Please let us know if you ever need anything and come back and see us again soon.
Course Needs a Revamp
When you are looking to just tune up your game like you would at a driving range, this is your course. $25.00 on a good day is about what this course is worth. If they would put some money in the course, perhaps it would look like what it did back in the early 2000''s But if you like your ball rolling over crabgrass putting greens for accuracy, this is your place. Don't expect much more than average when you come here.
Thank you for the review and feedback. We are currently working on improving course conditions and we hope you will come back to give us another try soon. Please let us know if you need anything while you are here and we hope we see you again very soon.
Poor Condition
I like the layout of this course. It has some challenging holes from the blue tees. I was hoping that the new owners brought the course back to great condition but they have a long way to go. The course conditions were poor. Weeds on the tee boxes and fairways and sparse grass everywhere. Bunkers were not in good condition either. The greens were burned out in spots and in fair condition. I only played this course because I got a great deal on GolfNow.
Thank you for your review and feedback. Our golfers are our #1 priority so it is very important to us to hear what you have to say so we can make efforts to improve. We hope you will come back in the future and give us another chance.
I played this course on 5/4/2017 and it was in the best shape it's been the last year, the greens have come back, the fairways were mowed and full. The new greenskeeper is slowly bring this course back. It's early in the season course has potential.
