NorthWest Park golf course
Just love this course! Extremely challenging! From the blues its over 6800yds! The blacks(tips) are over 7200yds......bunkers are well placed and are in play on every hole..great course! Great staff
Great value. Great test
Hadn't played he course in many years. I was very pleasantly surprised with the condition of the course; especially the greens. It was as good as many private clubs. For a public course with the amount of play this one gets, I got around in under 4 hours!! It is a definite test of driving, mid and long irons, and putting. It's long, 6800 from the Blues and 7300 from the Blacks. You better drive the ball straight. Driver, then mid to long iron on most par fours. Par threes are brutes, with the shortest from the Blues at 175 yards. All others played over 200. However, if you hit the ball straight, and take your medicine when you don't, it should be an enjoyable round and one where you can score.
NW on. Summer afternoon
This course is in very hood condition. It is a long ball hitters layout, large greens, very little H2O, 3 200+/-yard par 3's and 1 par 4 under 350 and 7400+ from the tips. I was pleased.
Awesome Course and Staff
Course was in great shape and the staff is awesome. I really appreciate the great attitude shown by all. Really enjoyed the total experience.
course was in excellent condition
Hadn't played there in three years. Awesome course conditions and remodeled clubhouse and food were very good
great course when you can get a golfnow hot deal
course is usually in pretty good condition ... a lot of wide open fairways which I definitely needed for this round :-\ $30 with a cart is a great deal for this course
Frequently played
Course is great!! Pace of play was ok 2.5 hrs 9 hole round.
Must play course
Sand traps need some work. Hard pan under soft sand. Course is in great shape other then the traps.
Hassle Free
This course was in great shape, especially for early in the season.
The greens rolled true to their lines and have not been destroyed by untreated divots. They had moderate speed, but were soft enough to stop your shots without any trouble.
Definitely will be playing this course again, ESPECIALLY once it has gotten a bit of sunlight.
condition of the course
For being mid march, the course was very well manicured.
Poor Pace of Play
I usually enjoy playing at this course, when I play at 7:30 a.m. However, on this day, given the winter season and tee time availability, I played at noon. It was a poor decision on my part. The pace of play was excruciatingly painful, and there was no marshall to encourage groups that languished on holes. In addition, when I realized that a slow back nine would make me late for an appointment, I asked for a raincheck at the turn and was told that because I used GolfNow, I could not receive one. Lessons learned!!
Natch and Son Round at Northwest Park
The round was fantastic! Beautiful weather, excellent course conditions. The pace of play was great and there were no holdups (except when my son and I were in the edge of the woods looking for our balls!)
Paul at the frond desk and the starter were very courteous and made us feel like we were members of a private club. The cart girl made herself available several times and was very pleasant with a big smile. All in all a great day.
One of the best public courses in DC Metro in the $50-75 price range
Played on a Sunday afternoon with great weather. Many of the $50-75 public courses in this area get bogged down with 5hr pace of play and/or are in mediocre condition. This course was neither. We played with virtually no waiting at all on any shot. Took our foursome 4 hours and 3 minutes to play 18 (I timed it).
Beautiful course in pristine condition. Fairways were in perfect shape with no bare spots and not even a lot of divots. Greens and tee boxes in excellent condition. It was clear that they take care of the course and maintain it well. The rough was a bit longer than what I'm used to, but not abnormal (plus it fairly penalized you for missing the fairway). The bunkers were in perfect shape!
Some really pretty holes too with no housing around and just nature. We got a deal at $49 per person with cart on Golfnow.com, but it would definitely have been worth the rack rate as well without a doubt.
Wouldn't say it's the most challenging course in the world (not a ton of water and the fairways are somewhat wide), but it was the right difficulty for my skill level (low to mid-90s golfer).
If the drive isn't too far for you, I highly recommend this course for a nice morning/afternoon!!
time
fairway grass was really tall. make sure to take extra balls with you. secondly, it was really crowded . lots of players was walking so that makes my round little bit longer that I TIMED myself.
Good county course
Very well maintained. Played on weekday so was fast. But weekends tend to be more packed, hence slower. In general its one of the challenging courses among the nine Montgomery county courses.
Northwest the Best
Great course, great condition, one of my favorite Public Courses.
NW
Bunkers need to be more consistent and did not eat there.
Course is in great shape!
The course played very fast; the tees, fairways and greens were hard. Balls rolled off the greens if played incorrectly.
It had been 10+ years since I'd played the course and will certainly play it again soon.
Snuck Out in A Friday Afternoon, Will be Back
I was able to fit in a round between thunderstorms on a Friday afternoon, and am so glad I chose to come to Northwest. The course was in perfect condition despite the rain, and it was a great experience beginning to end. Food at the clubhouse was well above average.
Wow, you get to play on January 2nd in D.C. and you complain about pace of play. Nice.
