Hickory Ridge Golf Course in Amherst is one of western Massachusetts' premier courses. It plays across a gently rolling landscape accented with mature tree that offers an especially scenic round in the fall thanks to the changing colors of the foliage. The course has some subtle contours but it is still pleasantly walkable and offers just enough of a challenge to appeal to low and high handicappers alike. The layout consists of an interesting variety of holes including some that are long, a few doglegs, and also some birdie opportunities. The golf course finishes with one of the area's most memorable holes. This long par 4 calls for an accurate tee shot in order to avoid the river on the left and the rough on the right. The challenges don't end there either with a second shot to a wide, elevated green protected by large, deep bunkers.

This course is managed poorly
Slowest course I ever played with the amount of people on course. Called clubhouse to complain about group with 3 holes open in front and response was pro shop just closed at 4 30 pm! Worst customer service I've seen no wonder this course gets so little play

Great course for the money!
Hands down one of the better course's I'll ever played. Very well kept and challenging. Wanted to try something different and it was well worth the hour drive. Will definitely be back again.

The course itself is awesome as there are some real challenging holes and also some pretty easy ones.
The only real problem is that they do not have cart paths and it's like riding on a washboard on most holes.

Difficult on some holes
Played the blue tees for a change of pace. Had some good holes but the par threes were too long for my game. The par four ninth and eighteenth were monsters. Unless you can hit it at least 265 don't play the blues. Had fun though! I enjoyed getting beat up. Course was in excellent condition except the bunkers. They were rototilled or something and better than the last time I played here. All the bunkers need to be rebuilt. I like this course a lot so, I'll be back to play the white tees where I belong.

Another Western Mass Gem
I've fallen in love with some of these Western Mass golf courses. Hickory Ridge is in great condition. Fairways are very nice bent grass, greens are fast and in great condition. Very nice, fair layout. Pushing 6,800 yards from the tips but not much shorter from the whites.
There are some very interesting holes, a triple tier green par 3 and a killer finishing hole that if you par you will fell like you birdied. Great staff, nice carts with bag covers, which came in handy as we had a passing shower but overall the day was awesome.

Safari adventure
For a course that has water everywhere and with the amount of rain we had in the days prior to our Safari Club Venture...this course took it all in stride. It was well manicured and the rough was very manageable...The greens played well and they were quick. My group will be playing here in the fall. This is a fun course.

A Safari Club Favorite!
This was at one time was a private Track, that now has become open to the Public and to tell you the truth its better now than ever!. The head Pro John R. and his Staff due an excellent job taking care business. Great track that's well taken care of. GO PLAY!

Hickory Ridge Great day
Played Hickory Ridge on Wednesday 8/2/2017 with the Safari Club and the course was in great shape, the staff was super, the greens were fast an it was a great day of golf. Also enjoyed the snack bar setup at the turn.

Best 18 hole walking course in the area
I played Hickory Ridge with the Safari Club on 8/2/17. I also play this course all the time. Hickory Ridge keeps getting better and better. The green are rolling better then ever. The tee boxes and fairways are in great shape. If you like to walk, there is no better course to walk all 18 holes. If you are looking for a challenge, you will want to play here. Many holes include caries over water, and most of the greens are elevated. Bring your game with you to score well.
Great value and beautiful views from the porch after your round from the porch overlooking the 18th hole. The new restaurant manager has put together a nice menu , and the food at the grill is great.

A must stop if in the area
Played the course today with the Safari Club and was not disappointed. Great shape from T-box to green with the greens rolling extremely well. Friendly staff from pro shop to wait staff added to the experience.

Very Nice Course
Played here today with the Safari Club. Great day, great course. Conditions were excellent. Greens were the best we've putted on all year. Staff was very well organized and made our day very enjoyable.

The course has come along way in the last two years
this course used to be kept really nice years ago but about five years ago it became a cow pasture now it's finally getting back in shape in the last two years. Greatl lay out the greens are really nice need some sand in the sand traps they are like dirt but other than that I recommend this course Many challenges from anyone of the tee boxes .

I've played this course several times over many years. This course was always lush and one of the best in the area but not anymore. This course is in steady decline. As an example, I was in several bunkers. There were many footprints in them even though the sand was like dried clay. I quickly learned not to blast out but to chip out. The rakes looked like they're from a Dollar Store. I still recommend the course because of it's layout but don't expect good conditions.
I highly recommend the burgers at the nineteenth.
