tale of two courses
First time playing course. Like reviews say. Front and back are like playing two different courses. The back has excellent fairways, but you have to hit them. Few holes you have thinking about what club you should be using. I think next time will even be better because I will understand layout.
Nice Course for the Money.
While this course needs some work, I thought the layout was phenomenal. The greens were in good shape and about as quick as they can get because of the sloping greens on the backside. The back side is much tougher than the front and I recommend riding as the course is spaced out. There are several holes on the back side that are just beautiful. Other than some bare spots in the fairway, the course is in pretty good shape. I think an irrigation system would do wonders on this course. It is an odd layout at times and can get confusing from hole to hole. Pay attention to the signs. Got a golf now deal for 25.00 with cart. Definitely a good buy and had a good day on the course.
This course is though
Course has great features.
Tee boxes need some work but fairways are awesome
Ned to keep ball on the green as the rough around the green is thick
Unreal back nine
Very nice old style course, smallish greens really having a nice round seemed like a Donsld Ross type of course, greens not to far from tees. Greens very nice shapeostly flat. Nice long par 3 240 from the blues.Stopped to grab a dog at the turn, Nice footlong!! Played 10&11 then went into the woods to 12th tee box. Hello felt like we were transported to the white mountains!! Whole different feel & look. Great surprise!! And this back nine is no joke !! Reminded me of Rhe Oaks at the International!! It's that nice !! Tougher I think!! I am on my way back next weekend!! Big fan
great views
A tricky course that should have a little booklet of distances as a lot of trouble is hidden. Great views . A good test of all your shots and worth the trip.
ecellent course
Tim is vey friendly. I am a new golfer and this course is tough, but is a great course, needs a little work but the greens are in very good shape. The cart paths are in need of work, but im no going to complain I am not playing the cart paths. WE have only bookec thru. Golf now and we were not treated any thing but professional and the food is good and very resonable prices on beer. Great golf. Considering a membership for next year. Would re ommened this course lots of fun
Ut
nice golf outing
Had a golf now tee time walked and was greeted by manager very nice told him had a tee time and he asked if all 4 were there, I said yes and he showed me where the cart was and said he would get a second cart right away, and he did, he was very pleasant and nice. Had a nice round of golf with nice views, some of the greens were sloped but the putts rolled true. Greet day a lot of fun, went to the bar after the round and the bartender was very friendly and took our order right away, and helpful. Thanks
Very pleased!
Greens were nice. Cart paths were smoothed over this year. Great food and barmaid. No better golf value anywhere!
tough back 9
Besides the attitude we got from the pro forhaving a golfnow tee time, it turned out to be a good round. They have t-shirts that say " I survived the back 9 at mill valley" no joke. The front was easy enough if you kept it in play. The greens being fairly flat and u could make a putt from anywhere. The back however kept you on your toes. Lots of blind approach and tee shots. The greens r really what made it a challenge. If you missed there was a good chance ur 5ft putt would burn the edge then continue to roll out and possibly off the green. All in all a good challenge. The greens a little slow for my taste but rolled true.
Dont waste your time or money
I booked our tee time on Golf Now. I don't think I would step foot on the property again if they paid me. It seemed as though the manager/supervisor was mad at us for booking through Golf Now, Arrived at the course 20 mins early and was met by Tim the owner/manager ask why we were here, I told hime I have a golfnow.com tee time, he openly started complaining to us that "you're pretty much playing for free." and said course was closed and not to ever come back.. I then asked if we did something to upset him, at which time he challenged us to a fight (holding his fists up to us). At that point . Two patrons of the course who witnessed this approached us and apologized, saying how out of line he was. The course itself isn't great, On the way i replied, Tim don't worry you will never see my face here again,. Will highly discourage anyone I talk to from going there.
beware
If you buy from golfnow, com beware you will be treated poorly by the owner Tim, spend a few more dollars and play a nice course
don't waste your time
The course itself isn't great, but I considered investing in their two year weekday membership until Tim, the club manager, did nearly everything in his power to be as rude as possible to us. Will highly discourage anyone I talk to from going there.
had a golfnow.com tee time for 6/8/14 7am, went to the course and was told by the owner of the course was closed and could not play, I told him I had a tee and he really did not care, I was then told never to come back, "my reply was don't worry I will not" wish I could rate 1/4 star but 1 was the lowest, rude, poor conditions,
Greens
The greens were in terrific shape the 200 foot drop is a must see tee box
Owner/Farmer needs to get into the real golf world!
The whole thing ..stunk! From Slow play - no Ranger, to wanting to charge $28. for an extra cart because we had 3-some's. We beat them though by ... playing a 6-some ... and kept up to the slow play - 5 hours, of the 4-some in front of us.
Very Poor Management!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Still a bit of a cow pasture
I purchased the tee time for a 2-some on GolfNow When I gave the owner my GolfNow conformation print out the attitude began. He asked if my playing partner was there and I confirmed my partner was present and if he looked out the window he could see him on the practice putting green. He scowled then belligerently told me as if I were a 3 year old that all players were be with me through the check in process. I've never had to before but I bit my tongue and said I would gladly oblige in the future. There was more that I won't get into as I am still upset. Now to the course. The layout isn't bad. The tee boxes are in dire need of leveling and grass. Some of the fairways are still dirt and rocks. But I do see the greens keeping crew working to better the course. But in my opinion it is still a bit of a cow pasture
Beat the Crowds - Great Western MA views
I have played this course a handful of times over the past couple years. What brings me back is the fair prices and the great layout. Not in the greatest conditions, but the prices reflect that. I am from the Boston area and would gladly drive out to MV to play 18 with a cart for $30 on the weekends.
Not every course can be like The Ranch or The Crump. Mill Valley offers a great layout and some challenging holes.
A little rough around the edges but I love the course and will keep coming back every year.
Nice Layout/Avoid the Crowds
I go out to Western MA a few times a year to play MV Golf Links. I continue to comeback because of the fair prices, quiet atmosphere, and great layout.
Holes 12-18 are some of my favorites in the area. Greens are in decent shape, and the tee boxes and fairways are playable. Over the past three years I have seen significant improvements and hope to play this course going forward in the future.
Some new irrigation and some updated drainage systems, this course could potentially be one of the best in Western MA.
Maybe I would play again...If it was free
The course advertises the best greens in the states which the start of many lies from this course. The condition of this course overall is poor at best. The tee-boxes are overgrown and the cart paths are more like an off road excursion. A lot of improvements need to be made to bring this course up to what it claims.
WOW
I started playing this course at the end of last season, and joined immediately. I cannot say enough about the challenges that await the weekend golfer. Very well maintained. I love the fact that I am challenged at every turn. The staff is local, super friendly and will never look down on the average golfer. I play all of the local courses and am happy to call this course home.
Beautifully scenic course with a fun, challenging, milhilly layout.
Mill Valley is a great value for anyone looking to play a challenging yet economical round. Fairways were somewhat patchy in a few areas (to be expected with so many hills and valleys.) All greens were in wonderful condition, beautiful scenery to enjoy while playing and the staff was friendly and welcoming. I'll be sure to return again and spread the word to many. Great course!
