About
Maplegate Country Club sprawls across 150 acres of gently rolling hills that are blanketed with forests of stately maple, oak, beech, and white pine trees. The golf course is situated just off of I-495 along the border between Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Although the location is seemingly isolated, it’s conveniently only 45 minutes from Boston. The course plays harder than it looks with a diverse layout that will test you with a variety of different shots. Maplegate Country Club's front nine features more target-style golf but you'll get to pull out your driver on the back nine. There are some tough holes, but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper. The variety that the golf course offers made it the natural choice to host U.S. Open Qualifiers in both in 1998 and 2001.

1st time out in ‘23…. Good shape, greens slow but expected… some upgrades to cart paths on back nine!…always challenging and fun to play

Lost the Glen Ellen Super
So have to give the new superintendent a chance
Par 3, 8th is really interesting where they want you to go to tee off…they have signs directing you go back across the bridge to 8 th tee
Guess the folks still need to assess the potential for a drive from 7 th tee being in the landing area of the 8 th tee… and since it’s not visible from either tee box to the other, no “fore” alert would be sounded for those on the 8th tee… since this was what happened
Four rangers on the weekend to way “all clear” to golfers on blind holes seems a good start
Lots of progress seeing some sod actually being used… just hope the superintendent budget is big enough to keep growing a llot more rough

Surprisingly difficult
This course is a gem. It offers a lot of challenge, great views and is priced for the area. The grounds are well kept and the staff friendly. It only has a shack for check in with hotdogs and chips.

uh oh!
The course is very hard. lots of blind tee shots, weird forced layups and slopy, well protected greens where course knowledge is a necessity just to have a chance. Really a caddie is a necessity, but there are no caddies.
the 3 players i played with were decent golfers and they all shot over 100... they got very frustrated even though they are regulars.
Be prepared to shoot over 100 unless you are very good, say sub 10 hdcp.
I'm a real live 7 and shot 84, but i hit my driver (tee shots in general) much straighter than most. long and wrong wont succeed here...
All that said, this is a beautiful tourney course and i can see why the usga did a qually here. If you are good, the course will keep you interested in every single shot. A shot makers course!
sad though. seems they are selling... for solar panel farms...

Hit or miss
Fairways and greens are well kept but if you play on the weekend be prepared for a 5+ hour round. The course seemingly has more rangers than holes and the pace of play is still terrible. Paid $91.00 for a 10:30 Saturday teetime and it took 5.5 hours. Clubhouse needs work. There are better options out there.

Nice course, not nice staff
I had not played here in several years & now I remember why. Very friendly when checking in at the clubhouse, but went straight downhill at the first tee!
We were the 2nd group out, all 4 of us are very experienced & FAST players. We got attitude from the starter from the get go, and then a Ranger followed our group for the first 5 holes.
The course was in nice shape, but just the actions of the starter & Ranger, will keep me & my friends away from here. We finished the round in 3:57 , we all play a LOT of golf & won’t be back anytime soon

Well designed course
With a long par 5 to open the front 9, i found myself in love with this course and even after 1. 2 -18 continues to demand accuracy off the tee and I had a great time meeting that challenge. I had two missed eagle opportunities this time, so i hope to come back and capitalize on those soon!
