Olde Scotland in Springtime
I have played this course many times in the past.Today was the first time I played here this spring. Without the tall fescues, this links layout for a low handicapper allows us to swing away. This being said you can hit driver everywhere, the greens were slow but true.Really enjoy this.myself I play 2 to 3 times a week and enjoy playing on the course it’s well-maintained
Hello bengvall14. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give us another try in the near future.
OSL gave everyone a treat to compliment a 60 degree day in February...Only a handful of courses could pull this off but the outstanding staff had nearly 120 golfers smiling including our group. 90% of the pins were frozen solid but no one complained especially with the new rule change allowing for this. Thank you OSL and staff for a treat...hope we get another one of these...soon!
Great course layout
Myself and 2 friends have played here about 4 times. We do 18 holes with carts. We generally shoot about 100, so we are average 64 year old golfers. The course layout is challenging, but not too much so. Most holes are long with bunkers and water hazards than punish poor shots. Some of the greens are challenging, due to slope and pin placement. Very enjoyable place to play a round of golf. There is no food/drink restaurant, which would be a nice addition.
Frozen greens, beautiful course
This morning I had an 8 AM tee time with a friend of mine another low handicap player. We had to wait till 9 AM frost delay conditions. I have played old Scotland many times however never with frozen greens .it was like bouncing a Super Ball, unless you pitch and ran and then you had no idea how that was going to roll either it’s too bad it was frozen today because this track is a wonderful track I am never disappointed however today the greens were frozen solid just mother nature in the middle of December
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to review our course, Olde Scotland Links, and for the 3 stars. We are sorry to see that the greens may not have been in the best shape due to weather we had during the time of your round. Your feedback is appreciated. It looks like you had a friendly experience with our staff and that your round was a great value for you, so we hope this improved your overall experience with us. Thank you for your choosing our course, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
Great for this time of year
For mid-December round, the course was in great condition. Greens a tad on the slow side (for me anyways). Lots of players out-mid 40s, sunny, low wind, so pace of play could've been better, but not bad: still finished in just over 4 hrs. Haven't played there in years and it was nice to revisit. Will play again. Staff were all very nice. Did not visit bar/restaurant, so a neutral review.
Unexpectedly good for this time of year.
I played in 37 degrees. The course condition was quite decent, the pace was fine and the ranger was helpful (my first time there). It is reasonably challenging. Got a birdie on hole#7 so I am happy.
Course was pretty empty when we arrived around noon. They let us go out right away which was great since we had a 12:40 tee time and might not have finished before dark. Course was in great shape for late November. It is a pretty wide open course so if you tend to spray the ball, this will work well for you. The fescue was not where it probably is in the Summer so that made the course somewhat easier. Greens were a tad slow and there was one temporary green on the back-nine, which we were not sure why since the normal green looked to be in excellent condition. Carts and cart paths were fine. It seemed there were quite a few short par 4s so I would not say it is a very long course but all three in our group enjoyed the course and would go back again.
Rude Staff Ruins Good Course
Had I known that the ranger was going to be a raging hothead, my friends and I would have packed it up for the remainder of the 2018 calender year. I don’t know what it is, maybe it’s because I’m not a middle aged man; but the way I was spoken to on a golf course as I try to finish playing the round that was paid for in full is downright unacceptable. I asked a few other guys who were playing if the ranger was always like this and yes, he apparently is. I feel bad for courses who get wrongfully reviewed because of 1 bad staff member, but he disrespected my entire group and nothing will come of it. Fellow golfers, I loved the layout and how the greens rolled especially at this point in the season. Unfortunately that doesn’t matter much as this course was kind of a drive for my friends and I so we will play the countless other courses in the vicinity. I recommend you do the same.
If one dressed properly, the day was perfect...a cool breeze...the course, this late in the season was in great shape...just wish folks would stop ruining fairways by driving on them with carts ...not observing cart path or 90 degree protocols...add in, the greens with divots still not being fixed by golfers...wish they could have had a Ranger out there more often...or get carts that are forced to stay on the paths...alas, a municipal course will likely never see that level of tech...too bad...a true gem...tests distance, shot placement and putting...a true gem
Great condition course
Well maintained golf course at this time of the year. Will play it again
POST RAIN WAS DRAINING
After a torrential rain squall hit the area yesterday, did not think the course would be playable but the construction and groundskeepers all did a great job as the sun and a gentle breeze made it a great day...remember, this ia a great MUNICIPAL course and needs our help since there may be budget cuts......you wont be disappointed...
Just a Fall pleasure
Fairways were in good shape...greens need to be rolled...since recent golfers forgot their divot tool...way too many inconsiderate golfers...they should use 2-3 tees to fix their greens divots...
I'm used to the greens being one of the best things about the course. They had been aerated 2 weeks prior, but they were still slow and bumpy. Pace was typically slow for a weekend afternoon at 4:40.
