D. W. Field Golf Course
About
Located on the west side of Brockton, D.W. Field Golf Course is just 30 minutes south of Boston. The 18-hole course, which dates back to 1927, has a classic design that is player friendly enough for all skill levels, though it's best for beginners. It's even gentle enough for junior players who want to get some practice with a full-length course. The course meanders through the Olmsted-designed D.W. Field Park and offers scenic views throughout. It's a driver-friendly layout with generous landing areas on nearly every hole. Only one fairway bunker comes into play. D.W. Field Golf Course's challenges come from the small greens, many of which are elevated, sloping, or multi-tiered. There are two reachable par 5s as well as a few tough holes, including the uphill 13th hole.

DW field GC
Good price for 18 holes and cart. Course in good shape for a municipal. Slow pace of play but had fun.
Great Variety
I really like this course nice open yet challenging. Each hole presents a different and interesting challenging. And the balance and order of 3 4 and 5 par holes are well placed.
The Cons of the course
- pace of play was the slowest I have ever been apart of, they didnt have a ranger going around so the groups in front of us were so slow.
- they overbooked and didnt have enough carts so we had to wait an extra 20 min to Tee off until other carts got back
- they take your carts away from you at the end of the day if it gets past 7pm and make you walk the rest of the way
- no food cart traveling around
Conditions Need Help
Fairly easy course. You would have to really try to loose a ball. Problem is that the course is not well maintained. Played 3 shots from the middle of the fairway on a par 5 and NONE of them were on grass. many, many, many bare spots and rocky areas. Played many shots from bare dirt areas in fairways. Also lots of non-repaired heavily hacked areas around the greens.
Old Classic Making a Comeback.
Last year was the first time in over thirty years that I did not play this old classic. The course is on the rebound and you can see the pride coming back. The staff is working hard to recover from years of abuse. In a few seasons...this place will be a treasure again because it has tons of character. It can be set up to play difficult just due to the greens which have undulation that challenge at every level. This is the best value on the south shore and is a true "Muny". I always enjoy playing here and find something good to say after each round. Kudos to the staff as you will notice what they are doing to make this place a "gem" once again. It is at best "old style" golf and not something fancy. A place where you could have fun and not kill your wallet.
Terrific Course Design and Great Greens
Always great to find a terrific design and fun course at this very low price and GREAT greens to putt. Will go back anytime..
Nice price with good course
The course is nice maintained. The green is fast. Little bit challenging.
Crispy On A Rain-Threatening Day
The course is relatively burnt out and the ball will get added roll out. The greens are in decent shape. Fairly open layout and not too much for penalty. Only a couple difficult tee shots but still a moderate challenge for the average golfer. The day was rain threatening and windy which made the course slightly tougher but it was good for pace of play. If you can grab a deal on Golf Now to play for $35 with a cart, then do it.
Nice greens. Pin locations brutal
Must have been greens keepers revenge day. Hardest pin locations I've ever seen here.condition of greens was excellent. Aerated a few weeks ago and recovered very well.Fairways in rough shape mostly burnt out ,had tough time finding grass to roll it to.
dw golfcourse
tee boxes and greens were in great shape. Some fairways had dead pan areas instead of grass. If you book on golf now make sure it is on your phone or bring a print out of your confirmation. The guy in the clubhouse had a little attitude about this.
Solid course
Good for the money. The course is well maintained.
Great greens, but fairways needed water
A fair, open course with beautiful greens. The dry weather conditions, however ,has done a number on the fairways. Tee times were right on time and staff was professional.
Worst staff EVER!!! Course even Worse!!!
Staff definitely has bad attitude. They act like they are doing us a favor by letting us play there.
The course was so bad I had to quit early.
Pay a little extra and pick a different course.
Dw review
Course was in fair condition. Staff seemed mad we were using a golf now savings. Would play course agaom
This course one of the worst.
This course one of the worst. The fairways are dry and hard to hit out of.
A trip down memory lane :(
I decided to golf at this course because this is the course where I started golfing.... It's where my grandfather and my father golfed for most of their lives and I haven't been there in years.... It's one of the only golf courses that I can't remember every single hole.... I was so excited to go back and play.... To make a long story short by the time I was finished I was shocked on how bad the course looked.... Granted it was never a top course in terms of condition but this was just disgusting..... Every fairway was diseased and barren in many spots.... Greens were just punched so I couldn't get a real feel for them but they might have a chance.... Just seems to me that whoever runs the course these days really gave up on it.... It was only 35 bucks with a cart to play which is dirt cheap and that is exactly what you will be playing on..... So sad that I would recommend mini golf before choosing to go to DW Field golf course.....
Courses Like This Deter Beginners from Playing
I've never taken the time to write a thorough review, however this merits attention, because DW Field is currently advertising itself as a 'revitalized' golf course. I can accept imperfect tee boxes and greens when I'm paying $29 to golf. I cannot accept a mine-field of a fairway (when there are no cart parths); I cannot accept finishing 13 holes in four hours, with a poor single marshall doing everything he can to be friendly--but not having people move faster; and I cannot accept my wife telling me that there was a man walking out of the women's restroom/locker room as she was walking towards a stall. Will not return--and can not recommend this course to anyone that wants to enjoy themselves on the golf course.
Good day for Golf
I enjoyed the place very much. Nice afternoon. The greens are good for a public course.
