Robert T. Lynch Municipal - Brookline Golf Course
About
Brookline Golf Course at Robert T. Lynch Municipal sits on a parcel of land that was originally designated by the town as a bird sanctuary. Many varieties of birds still call the course home. The course is part of the Putterham property, which also includes Brookline Golf Club. It may be difficult to get into the renowned Brookline Country Club, the owner of Putterham Meadows, but Brookline Golf Club and the Robert T. Lynch Course provide great public options. The Robert T. Lynch Course is smaller than the other public golf course at Putterham, but it is no less challenging. The fairways are seemingly open and flat, but don't be fooled because placement within them is key if you don't want any blocked angles. The tricky greens are often elevated, and some are multi-tiered. The golf course may be short, but it's a formidable test.

Good value for the money
I booked the tee time last night as GolfNow was offering a Hot Deal for $15 for 18 including cart. Hard to pass that up. It's your standard looking municipal course but for $1/hole, I couldn't argue.
This is a very good layout.
13, 14 and 15 are what I call Amen Corner! Three of the most challenging you will pay. I really like this course.
Good value close to downtown Boston
Very good variety of holes. Excellent greens; fairways just average. Very friendly staff; good value for the money. Nice, informal grill room.
Nice layout.
Put some money into the course. Has some serious potential.
Nice course for price, end of season and rain muddled fairwairs
Some fairways sloppy, but to be expected, super nice staff as we played untill dark
Nice course good value. Beautiful porch to sit for after golf refreshments overlooking the eighteenth hole Please send there is a stronger
I liked the course great value super location. Nice condition.
Good deal and good conditions
Slow play hurt but conditions are great you must play before 8am or after 2pm
This course has a very nice layout. However...
I played this course many times. It was sad to see it in such poor condition and the staff needs to be more forceful with beer guzzling threesomes that tie up the entire course on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
the greens were fast but true with some challenging slopes
Play picked up after 9. Tee box, fairways and greens were in excellant condition. Some of the sandtraps need some work. The rough was a little high and the greens were difficult which probably accounted for most of the slow play. It is a challenging design. I enjoyed it !
Good value close to Boston - a good "muni"
The course was not empty on a Summer Monday but there were few delays hitting. I played as a single and was put together with a group of two and one other invididual. A very pleasant round. Course in decent shape despite a dry summer. Green, however, very fast.
Soul-Killing Weekend Pace of Play
I play this course once a month or so but always during the week. This most recent round was on a Sunday afternoon and I had to quit after 12 holes, which took 3 1/2 hours to play. Starting groups on 10 just kills the pace of play. There's nothing worse than finishing the 12th hole and finding a group just abut to tee off on 13 with another group in the fairway, one on the green and one visible on the next tee.
I'f recommend the course but not for weekend play.
Super nice staff and well kept course
The Good: The staff was super nice from the guys in the Pro Shop to the Starter and the guy manning the grill. The course was in good conditions.
The Bad: I booked a tee time a couple of days in advance and still had to wait 40 minutes to get out. After that the time didnt get much better as we were held up all day. This was the longest round of my life at just over 5.5 hrs.
The Ugly: Neither the course nor the score card have a picture of the holes. This causes a problem when you can not see the green on many holes. Yard markers would be helpful too
cheap, but poorly maintained...no drainage
Overall, the course isn't too bad. Plenty of holes are tough to navigate due to poor drainage. It also is jam packed as most municipal courses are...but this particular round took forever. We called it early after the 15th hole as it was already past 5 hrs
Played after rain soaked week - Standing Water everywhere
Played after rain soaked week. Wouldn't advise playing after lots of rain. Greens were still fast and well maintained. Fairways had standing water everywhere. Bunkers were under water.
Not worth it...even with the Discount!
We took a chance with the 50% off discount but were not happy with our choice. The conditions were terrible especially around the greens and tee boxes. To think that a weekend rate is over $60 is nuts. Buyers be ware!
Good course for the price.
I play this course multiple times of year and typically by the end of summer it is a little worse for wear. This year though, it has been in pretty decent shape even with the extreme temperatures. Overall the course difficulty is moderate with some challenging holes added in. The one downside is weekend play is slow due to quality of play. Make sure you have your head on a swivel as others forget the use of the word FORE! It is a good value though for the price and is convenient location closer to Boston.
Not extremely impressed
It was a pretty good deal for the money I suppose. The course was in alright shape. The greens were in good shape but played a little slow. A lot of patchy spots in the fairway and a lot of dirt. Overall though good experience and would play here again for a hot deal.
Nice course close to Boston
Played this course midweek with a great GolfNow deal (around 50% off) and had a great time. Staff was friendly but not omnipresent and the cart girl came by three times to check on us on a hot day, which was nice. The course has a very solid, old-school layout but like any muni track, it gets beat up. Tee boxes and greens were actually in pretty good shape, but don't expect a great lie every time you're in the fairway. Course is pretty open so you don't always pay for mistakes off the tee, and with a pretty short length, you can score well. Heads up for a couple blind tee shots that can be frustrating, and while you can find yardage markers in the fairway, there are no maps for the holes on the scorecard or hole markers. Absolutely a good play with a GolfNow deal, and you'll definitely get your golf fix at Putterham.
Great pace of play, Fun track!
I played this course on a beautiful Saturday morning at 9AM. We were able to get through 18 holes in just about 4 hours. The course was in great shape, best I've ever seen it look. There were some new faces on staff and everyone was very friendly and helpful. I even had a kid load my bag on to my cart, clean my clubs, and replace my spikes.
