Appropriately named.....with only a few level areas to hit from
We hadn't played this course in many years and found it in better shape than when we played before. The first three holes were on hillsides and made for challenging ball placement. So were two or three others. A long par 5 to start with a well protected green. We found the greens to be fast with challenging (fun) mounds to contend with.
Greens were in great shape. The grass on some parts of the tee boxes and fairways were struggling due to the lack of "Mother Nature" rain this summer here and in all the surrounding towns.
The pace of play was quick and the next hole tee boxes were easy to find.
The staff were all friendly and accommodating to our needs. Starter couldn't have been nicer getting us out and summarizing the course layout.
Well worth playing when in the area!
Course was in great condition. Failry open and forgiving. Some pin placements were challenging. Staff was great.
Would have been nice if we were informed that the greens were aerated when the time was booked. Spoiled what was otherwise a pleasant round.
Abysmal Pace of Play/Course Management
The pace of play was unconscionable. As early as the second hole I found myself behind 2 4somes and a 5some all playing the third hole. By the time I had completed 6 holes, there was a backup of 9 golfers on the 7th tee with another foursome ahead of them. I understand it is a 9 hole course but there were at least 4-5 too many groups out on the course if not even more. I drove off and informed the management of the issue but they didn’t seem to care. I can honestly say I would never wish a round at this course on anyone.
Fun evening walking the course.
Wow! I was surprised how challenging this course was. Long and hilly, with plenty of speed and break on the greens. Friendly staff, and regulars were really cool about describing the course for me. #2 and #3 were as tough as described. I will definitely be back!
Gem
As always, this place is a gem. Only if it had a real driving range or 18 holes. I actually like that it's 9 because it's perfect for when I'm limited on time. Playing 9 at a 18 hole course just seems wrong lol. Keep up the great work North Hill, you have my business. I have yet to play a better 9 hole course nearby.
