Enjoyable Round, Nice Greens, Good Layout for 18
Enjoyed playing a Saturday afternoon 18 at Ridder. The course layout was forgiving for someone who likes to hit it longer but not always middle fairway. It was a good mix of different par 4s with some challenging Par 5s and Par 3s. Doglegs and well placed water/bunkers and larger challenging and fast greens made it a fun but not easy round.
Hope to make this part of my south shore rotation of public courses. Also it’s nice as they have the learning center/ covered range next door to hit some balls in the shade before a round.
Rough condition
This is a nice gentle layout that is in need of much TLC. Fairways had tons of burned out spots, green were fine except that they were long and slow, tee boxes were badly covered with big divots and the bunkers were full of weeds and had no raked.
This course needs a lot of rain and an active grounds keeper.
Good track
Great wide open course, only issue was no rakes in the traps and traps need some TLC. To many weeds in the traps and they need some definition.
Ridder farms review
Nice course, driving range. Forgiving front nine, challenging back nine. The pace of play was a bit slow, but that can change daily.
I was a little hesitant to recommend the course to others because I thought it was a little pricey for the condition.
Slow play
Showed up 10min early to my tee time and was told I was late and that my group had already teed off. Pace of play was very slow. I had to wait a few minutes for every tee shot and and every approach shot. My guess is that the tee times are too close together. I play here often and it’s a great course but this was a tough day. I had to leave after 9 holes because of the pace of play.
Father and son day
I started playing Ridder farm back around 1964. $1.75 for nine, ice cream was a quarter. My son played golf with his high school team where he met his wife. He hasn’t played there since the early 2000s. Comfortable course to play, some tough holes. This course has always been consistent, that’s why locals come back. Keep up the good work and golfers go have fun.
Great Experience
The ride from Fairhaven took longer than expected primarily due to it is lots of backroads once we got off 24. Once we got there the whole experience was great. Paul, the starter , is such a great dude. We got paired with a twosome who had played the course many times so there was no mystery of what to expect on any hole. THe course was in great shape and the pace of play was good for a Sunday afternoon on a holiday weekend. The no rakes for the sand was puzzling though. Overall it was a stellar day. We will be back and we will leave earlier next time.
All good
Perfect weather, no crowds, excellent greens, well kept fairways, and a terrific staff all added up to a wonderful day at Ridder Farms. Nicest 18 this year!
Nice easy course in very good condition
This was my first time playing Ridder Farm. The course has a short front 9 but is in very good condition. The back 9 is longer and more challenging. The staff was very welcoming and I really enjoyed my first visit to Ridder Farm. It’s a great course to practice your short game, with pretty good greens. I will definitely come back to better my score.
