Nice greens on this short course. A group of five slowed the round down considerably and not the first time I've seen it here. Would recommend at a discount rate, but make sure to tie your bag down tight... by far the worst cart paths still existing on a golf course without being re-paved. Would recommend walking it's that bad.
Very good course
Course in great shape. Will play again. Best if playing with someone who knows the layout (doglegs etc) if not, off fairways can be challenging.
Fun track, bumpy ride
Elmcrest is a fun course. It's not very long, but you do have to be accurate off the tee or you'll find woods and trees blocking out your approach shots. The greens and fairways were in great condition. I took a cart and the ride, especially on the back, was very bumpy which is really my only complaint. In time I am guessing the course will be able to fix all their cart paths as they seem to have done recently on the front 9. Certainly a great value course and I was impressed with everything except the aforementioned cart paths/ bumpy terrain. My rangefinder fell out of my cart twice, but I was able to go back and grab it both times.
Challenging short course
This course has its challenges. Narrow fairways, short and quick greens. Course was in fairly good shape. Only downfall was that the driving range is no longer there. Like to hit a few balls before the round starts.
Well worth it
An enjoyable layout with some tight fairways, smallish greens and good variety. You can shoot a low score here if you're relatively straight off the tee, and from the white tees you can keep the driver in the bag half the time. The deal on Golf Now was fantastic -- $32 on a Sunday morning with carts. I've played most of the courses in Western Mass and northern CT but this was my first time at Elmcrest. I would definitely return. Greens were a bit slow but seemed to roll true. Some of the rough was out of control and penalized shots just off the green. GPS takes you down the wrong street, so get your directions in advance.
Lots of Potential
Course was in good shape. Rough was high, bunkers not the best, greens ran well. Fairways are a little tight on some holes especially the front 9. Course was bought a year ago and you can see they are doing a lot of work. No Signs to tell you what hole you were on so some of the holes we were guessing but figured it out.
Back 9 Closed
This was my first time playing Elmcrest and I was really excited because of all the great things I had heard about the course. Unfortunately, upon arriving at the course I found out that the entire back 9 was closed. I'll admit, at first I was disappointed because I wasn't going to get the full experience of the course. But after playing the front 9 the first time, I found myself looking forward to going through it again to see if I could shave a few strokes off my score (which I'm happy to say I did).
As far as the condition of the front 9, it was in amazing shape. Playing Fall golf in New England is challenging with all the leaves on the course but Elmcrest did a great job of keeping them off the fairways, greens, and even the rough.
As far as lay out of the front 9, it was challenging but not too hard for an average golfer. If you can keep your ball in the fairways, you can definitely shoot a good score. The greens, which were in amazing shape, were challenging but not impossible to read. And the bunkers, were even well maintained and playable.
So if your looking to get out and play a quick 9 holes at a well maintained course, this is the perfect course for you.
New Gem in Western Mass.
First visit to Elmcrest CC certainly won't be my last. Fairways and greens were outstanding. The staff was excellent. The clubhouse can use some renovations but the golf course is top shelf. The Fluery group keeps their record intact.
Incredible potential...
The place itself is a bit run down to be honest, but the course has incredible potential to be top notch. The greens were excellent and most fairway and tee boxes were very good. These are the same people who own Crestview and they have only had this course for less than a year. It's in a beautiful area and you could see that in it's day it was one beautiful place to play. Quite, with so much vegetation and plants everywhere. Yeah, it needs a lot of work to bring it back to where it once was, but I believe the money is going into the course first, just like it should be.
I enjoyed the layout and challenge. Not a long course but lots of tight holes and if you try to muscle the course, you might be headed for a very high score. No goofy holes, but you may not hit driver on a regular basis.
Being my first time, the holes are not marked very well. Can be very confusing to know where to go as some holes have cart signs in front but most don't. The cart paths are in tough shape, so go slow and don't have a drink that's not covered. Each hole has a brown post with hangers, but no sign telling you what hole it is.
I will definitely come back and play again when in the area.
Lots of potential!!!
Elmcrest is a great layout. The course is in good shape for being auctioned off beginning of the year. Some rough spots on the fairways but the greens rolled nice. Awesome layout and design. With a few bucks it will be a great course again.
Private course that is now Public.
Played this course for the first time since new ownership. They also own Crestview. Greens in good shape, fairways some spots that had winter kill. Course used to be private and in very good shape. They must have hit hard times but very playable. Played in less than 3 hours - 18 holes. Good layout and better than average shape. Challenging. I think these guys will turn it around now that they own it.
great track
course is in the best shape it has been in years. New pro shop staff is friendly. Greens are quick, faiways are lush and tees are good.
Definite improvement
This course has definitely been improving over the last year. The greens are faster and more consistent than I have played them before. The new head pro is a great guy and very knowledgeable. Only hit I can make is the cart paths are in desperate need of updating and repair
