Golf Advisor: Top Courses in New England
WESTOVER was one of the best course around, now it seems like lack of maintenance or money is killing it!
That’s a shame!!
My dad and I arrived at the course to find it was closed for a tournament later in the day. When we explained to Head pro Bill Kubinski that we had a confirmed tee time through GolfNow, he honored it, personally found us a cart, and asked the starter to get us out so we could play as many holes as possible before the shotgun start later in the day. While we weren’t able to get in 18 holes before the tournament started, we were satisfied with what we were able to get in because we were treated fairly. Thanks Bill and the staff at Westover Golf Course for turning what could have been a bad situation into a positive experience!
Worth a Visit
Played the course today with the Safari Club and had an enjoyable experience. T-boxes and fairways were in good condition. The greens were recently aerated so putting was a challenge. Staff was helpful and friendly.
Poor Green Conditions
I knew the greens were plugs before I purchased. I expected small plugs not the very large ones I encountered. The amount of them made it even worse. Looked like they had some kind of problem prior to spiking the greens as there were sections of green that looked dead. All in all still a good layout and fun course to play.
Second longest course in pioneer valley
Only the Ranch is longer from the tips but what really matters is you get a very challenging golf course in very good condition for very little money. This is a hidden gem loved by locals. The course used to be part of Westover air base for the officers and visiting dignitaries and was pristine but the layout remains even though the enlisted men are no longer grooming the grass for 50 cents an hour pay. If your visiting the Pioneer Valley don’t miss westover and the ranch.
Always a fun course to play!
Nice layout and a long course that is wide open. I have played a few times and enjoy it every time!
This course is in great shape
The course is well manicured and cared for. One of the few courses that actually takes care if it’s bunkers. The grounds crew is always hard at work.
Pace of play is very good and the staff is very professional.
Nice course with friendly staff
Westover is one of my favorite courses. I wish it weren't 57 miles away with a traffic jam on I 91 waiting on the return home. I usually meet some nice people to play with and playing the senior tees (I'm 78) has made the layout less of a struggle. Nice layout and conditions make this course an enjoyable day.
