Beautifully maintained hidden 9 hole gem

OK, maybe not hidden to the locals, but I had not realized there was a public 9 hole course of this quality just off 95 in Lexington, MA. It gets confused when you talk to people with the private club next door and the short par 3 first come first serve place nearby.
No, Pine Meadows is pleasant, green (thank you 2023 rain), with well maintained tee boxes and greens. No, there's no range, the practice green is small, and soft drinks are in the vending machine, but the golf is great fun.
It is not a long course, but there's enough variety and challenge on all but the first two holes (which are par 5s) to appeal to people of varying skills and strengths. The par 4 3rd is reachable but requires skill to avoid trees, bunkers, or overshooting onto the entrance road. Similarly, the other par 4s have enough variety to require you to plan for your approach shots.
The course is hilly, and they don't have many carts. Don't count on one being available at peak times.

Horrible Despicable Starter!!!

Today I took my 8 year old grandson to play 9 holes. This was his second time playing a course. I told that to the starter and also explained he would pick his ball up and move it to mine. He agreed and the club too my money, full price for 2 players.

On the second green the started came screaming loudly over to me cursing that we were too slow and were holding up the pace of play. This was not so. They had paired us up with a couple and they were mortified with this treatment!

We did not finish the hole but went on to the next hole by ourself. We played alone. From that point, 3rd hole, we waited and waited for several foursomes in front of us to play. We never held anyone up!

The yelling and awful treatment scared my young grandson so much he wanted to go home and never play golf again! This was a terrible introduction to the manners of people who are suppose to be golf professionals !!! Please read the other reviews on the course website. It seems other golfers have been subjected to the same treatment!!! Someone needs to investigate this unethical behavior !!?!

I've played this course three times already this year. I really like the layout and it is a lot of fun to play. Course is usually in pretty good condition.

Monday morning golf

My gf and I went out to Pine Meadows on a Monday morning. It was very busy but the man in clubhouse was friendly abt getting us in. The starter was a bit " gruff" but was ok. We found the course to be in excellent shape. Greens, tee boxes and fairways all in clean well kept shape. Pace was slow as this course is appealing to older Golfers. Really beautiful holes. # 5 and 6. Overall a good day. We will be back ASAP.
