Bay Pointe Country Club
About
Bay Pointe Country Club was known as Wareham Country Club when it first opened in 1964 up until 1988 when it underwent a major renovation, including the construction of the island green seventh hole, which is the golf course's signature. The club underwent yet another multi-million dollar renovation in 2012 when the club changed ownership. In the most recent renovation, hundreds of extraneous trees were cleared from the fairways in order to get it back into pristine condition. Although it's a seemingly short layout at just over 6,200 yards from the back tees, it actually plays much longer. The first two holes are laid across the hilliest portion of the terrain. Though you have a challenging start, the rest of the Bay Pointe golf course eases into a gentler landscape.

It is long for the average lady golfer.
The course was in great shape and has long holes. Great for a long ball hitter.
Bay Point Club on Cape Cod Onset, Ma.
Due to 8:00am start, I had the course to myself... no waiting at all. I played two days and each time I totally enjoyed myself. # 1 was the most challenging due to not knowing what to expect ... but I can't wait till next time in area to play this course again. Everyone should play Bay Point Club at least once!
A nice course with plenty of challenge for my skills.
I am a once a week golfer and I found the course to be a good test of my skills. I tend to shoot in the low 90's and was comfortable playing here. I will go back.
The pace of play was amazing!!!
Under 3 hours for 18 holes. Several (3) 200 yard+ par 3's from the back tees. Greens were not super fast, but they rolled true and seemed consistent. Overall a pretty straight forward course with the possibility of shooting a low score to boost the ego! Great value for the price!
the course is in good condition. the greens are average, not very fast.
I enjoyed the course and will probably play there again
Excellent value for the money.
Average public course, challenging, nice track. In average condition. Not too much play the day we played. Played 18 holes in 3 1/2 hours. Greens were nice and rolled true. Need better signs, etc. as this was our first time playing course !
This course has a true island hole...
The fairways are in great condition however some greens and tee boxes need attention. It's a hilly course with a lot of blind shots so if its your first time out it can be challenging. The club house is basically a huge bar with keno which was a big plus. The sandwiches were all good we really enjoyed our round. We will definitely go back.
bay pointe
greens discolored but did not matter putts rolled true.
Good deal, good conditions, good time.
The GolfNow deal is worth the trip. Went on a Sunday @ 11, no waiting on the 1st tee. Recent heat wave over 90 for a week had a negative impact on the greens, some spots were pretty bare, but the ball rolled true and not too slow. If not for the greens I would have given 5 stars. Try the hotdogs at the turn, jumbo size, grilled and tasty.
Interesting course
It's a pretty fun little track. The first time I played here I didn't really like it, but mostly because its a tough course and I had no advanced knowledge. I learn courses quick, so now that I've played it 3 times I am starting to really enjoy it. I love the fact that there are so many unique holes and a variety of different holes. You have a 85 yard par 3 shot to an island green, the rest of the par 3's are long. From the blue tees you've got five 185-230 yard par 3's. From the whites they are like 165-220. I like that. It separates the good players from the bad. The course also features a nice variety of par 4 holes. There are 2 or 3 shorter, drive able par 4's. But then you have a few long beastly par 4's that actually turn into par 5' s for the ladies. I believe numbers 2, 5 and 18 are the toughest par 4 holes. The par 5's are pretty challenging with some nice risk/reward decisions. I love number 17, it's a razor sharp dog leg left.. You have to choose between playing safe and hitting a long iron or hybrid/wood which makes it a 3 shot par 5, or whipping out the driver and trying to clear the trees and cut the corner and leave yourself a short iron approach shot and subsequent eagle opportunity. Thats what i did but i hit a bomb that ran right through the fairway and left me a pretty impossible shot in a little hole from about 145 out. I had to avoid a bunker and some branches in front of me with a really low shot so I tried to punch it with a 4 iron and run it up to the green but I hooked it a bit and wound up short of the green in the rough. I ended up making par. I found that I rarely used my 7 and 8 iron here. You end up with a lot of longer or shorter irons. Not a ton of 140 - 160 type shots. There are some elevated tees and some nice chances to really bomb the driver. The worst thing about the course is the rough is brutal! Seriously some of the toughest roughIi have played. Much harder than Sandwich Hollows. Also there is a ton of undulation, which can often leave you with a tough stance and lie, even after a gorgeous drive. In particular the first couple of holes. I definitely recommend Bay Pointe. Bring your A-game and your bug spray, and have fun!.
Nice value, good course
Course was in very good condition. The staff and bar/grille were great. Fairly challenging, staying out of the rough helps your score quite a bit. Five par 3's in the 180-200+ yd range: I would prefer they mixed those up a bit more. Fairly hilly with a few blind shots to heighten the level of play required. All in all a very good experience. The course was pretty empty and flew threw 18 in about 3 hours. Almost like playing on a private tract.
Challenging course with some very interesting holes.
Would play again to attempt a better score now that I know what to expect.
My wife and I played and found the course to be a fair challenge.
Played on Fri 6/21/13 and found the course to be in good shape and the greens rolled good . I am an 18 handicap and my wife shoots in the 105 - 110 range. This was our first time playing Bay Point and felt it was a fair challange. We enjoyed the course and would return to play again.

Nice Course
I looked at other courses in the area as this was my first visit to Cape Cod. For what I wanted to spend and the distance I was willing to travel from my accommodations - - this course fit. The staff was great. The course was in nice condition during mid-June. Some tricky holes but overall a pleasant experience. The course is fair and the greens don't beat you up with undulations. A nice track for a mid-handicapper.
Great round wide open good value great layout!
Played at 1pm on a weekday. Was a single in a cart. Wide open. Only had to play through a 2-some and a 4-some.
Conditions were great for a cheap public course. Thanks again to Bay Pointe and GolfNow for a great round! I rarely have good experiences golfing when I am home in MA it seems like I have to be in another (cheaper) part of the country to get to play nice courses w/cart for anywhere close to this price so once again thanks to Bay Pointe and GolfNow excellent experience and I will return.
Bay Pointe has been improved
Greens in good shape. Good variety of uphill, downhill and sidehill lies. Some of the par 4's a bit on the short side.
A great deal at the Golf Now price.
A little on the short side. Play from the blues for the best challenge.
Very little water to worry about, but plenty of bunkers guarding the greens. Quite hilly. Some of the par 4s are very short and should be 3s. A great play overall.
Challenging lies, good conditions, good value
Played with the golf now rate. For the price the course was well worth it. Seemed like we had the course to ourselves on a sunday afternoon. The greens weren't perfect but they were overall in good shape and consistent. The many uphill holes and hilly conditions of the course made the distance seem longer than it was and difficult to score well in some cases. The first hole was a dog leg left par 5. I hit a solid drive a little right of my target and wound up with a uphill lie 2 ft above my feet in the middle of the fairway! Had a few of these throughout the round that hurt my score a bit more than usual. Certainly worth the value especially if the greens clean up a bit more.
Getting there.....
This course is finally getting the attention it deserves. It has for the last bunch of years been neglected. Last year it was purchased by a new group. I have been told they have put $1,000,000 into the course so far. It shows, it plays great. I was so impressed that I am actually thinking of joining. There is still work to do. My observations were, needs better tee signage, needs signage as to where next hole is located (some holes were a guess), needs some benches near tee boxes, also need to have drinking water available. Lastly some of the traps need more sand. These items I mentioned are really minor compared to the major work that has already been done. Keep it going.......
Better than last time
Substantial improvements have been made since we last played. Maybe under new ownership? Ladies slope rating is difficult, and senior tees would be welcomed.
