A great Deal!
At $13.50 using a hot deal, it was a great deal! Played blue tees (farthest tees back). Two long par 4's, good length par 3's, and the remainder of holes are on the short side. Course has a variety of holes. Greens are on the slow side, but many are sloped. The fairways are almost rough like. I rolled my ball over when I could tell I was in a fairway.
For short money, it was a fun course.
Course needs work!!!! A lot of it!!!
This course would be fun but there isn't difference between the second cut and the fairways,no sand in the sand traps, and the cart paths you need a four wheel drive truck!!! Great course for beginners!!!!
Not great!
I read several reviews that said Southwick CC was great.
I found it quite average.
It was in good shape, greens were ok.
Tee boxes were shaggy.
Some of the cart paths were rough.
I enjoyed my round, the price was good on GolfNow.
Southwick
Good course for beginers / intermediate.. Short and open
great place to play
Love this course. If I lived closer I would play there all the time
NICE ROUND
The course is in very good shape for this time of year.. greens were fast and true. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Nice to be golfing in late December.
few traps, small greens
A relatively flat course with few sand traps builds challenge with strategically placed trees and smaller greens. Typical of public courses, the greens ran slow, but true. Fairways were longer that normal and first cuts were more like roughs. The front nine's level fairways contrasted with sloping greens and pin placements that rewarded accuracy (and conversely the opposite with false fronts). Back nine wondered through the woods, offering dog legs that could be cut, or driven out of bounds.
High ratings = delusional blind people
Ever seen a movie so awful that you not only walk out of the theater before it is over, you're actually questioning if you even like movies? That was me. These people below obviously either own this joint or are simply too delusional for rational thought. Goat ranchers wouldn't let their goats roam this dump. If you can't grow grass this time of year, just hang up your green thumb. "Fairways" shaggy and approximately 26 different kinds of "grass", greens 2000 sq feet with holes cut one pace on. Consecutive 290-yard par-4s that are shaped like Us. One beat-up Coke machine as the lone source of liquid refreshment. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Great value
This course was surprisingly fun and a great value. $15 for 18 holes with cart was unbelievable. The back 9 is much more interesting than the front, but overall, a great old course in Western Mass.
"The Come Back Kid"
For years when you mentioned Southwick CC to anybody, the usual responds was its way to easy and in terrible shape! Its not that way any more my friends! When you look across the road on the first hole, at the $100 Golf course that abuts Southwick, then look around at the course that you are playing, there's not much difference in conditions. Why you may ask yourself, and the answer is the Ground Supt. Alan Y. used to work at that very expensive Track, and now He is using all that experience at Southwick.
Over rated
The reviews give it four stars...not sure what they were seeing...it is good value for your money and fun but it's fairways are extremely beat up as are the tee boxes...pace of play is 4.5 hours...
Great Course
This course was great. I played 18 with a friend, for the first time, and we both agree this was a hidden gem. If you enjoy a nicely constructed course and lush green fairways, this is the place for you.
Good Course
The Fairways and Rough were really long and needed to be cut. There were also some really bad spots on fairways, tee boxes, and greens that didn't appear to be in the process of being worked on.
I liked the course layout, and there were some really challenging greens.
Great Course.
With many local courses in Western Mass. Not very green after a very tough winter, I must say the greens at Southwich CC are in the best condition I have seen anywhere yet this spring. The fairways are good, however not as good as the greens. Great value, and a nice course.
