Fun Challenge in the Berkshires
This course will make you hit every club in your bag. Although not extremely long, it will make you think off the tee so that you don't dump one into the Housatonic River that seems to creep into play on every hole!
I love the layout and feel that it is fair, fun and challenging. The greens aren't very fast, but they rolled pure (maybe they were saving them for an upcoming tournament?).
I personally thought their 4 one shotters were fantastic:
#2 plays about 190 from the tips to a well guarded elevated green
#5 plays about 125 to a postage stamp green with seemingly no where to miss (scariest wedge I've hit in a while, haha)
#11 looked easy at 145, but was again really well guarded and par is a good score there (OB right and long, hazard left, bunkers short)
#14 was about 210 or so from the tips and although it didn't look challenging, it was a tough green to hit
I'd say the course has two stretches you hope to get through at even or 1 over (for a single digit) Holes 7-9 and Holes 12-14.
The only 'poor' hole on the course is 17, where it is set up like a horseshoe and in order to get your drive inside 200 you must take on a forced carry that seems to eat balls up that should have been fine in the middle of the fairway. Not sure what the answer to fixing this hole is, but if it could be updated, the course wouldn't have a "stupid" hole on it. Which would have it in rare company. Oh, and maybe speed the greens up a bit.
