Early Bird Round
Course conditions were awesome. I'm glad I walked because the cart paths looked like you needed 4 wheel drive to get through them. With a little attention this could be a great club to belong to.
Morning 18
Pleasantly surprised by the course; busy but ranger and staff maintain starting times 12min apart so we finished our round in under 4hrs. We were paired with a member couple. Friendly and helpful! Tight course so keep on fairway and challenging. Worth the time!
Hi, Thor325. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Butternut Farm Golf Club.
Horrible!
Worst course in Massachusetts, if you want to spend a hard earned buck and 8 hours of your day playing 18, pick this spot! Greens had more potholes than 93 north.

Slow pace
Overall, I wouldn’t play here, pace of play extremely slow, actually it was painful waited every shot for the all the groups ahead of us. No for me.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback as we will use your review to better the experience going forward. We hope you give us another try in the near future!

Long, Wet, and Ignored
Let me start by saying I played on a week day at 11am.
Took 5:45 to get around 18....one of the slowest rounds I have played during the week EVER. On top of that the sprinklers came on 3 times while I was on the tee box or approaching it. And lastly on a 85 degree day the beverage cart drove by us not even looking for a wave and ignores our yelling for them to stop. Not once but twice.
I feel like the course was in decent shape given all the rain we have had lately but the long round coupled with no water or service from the cart, and the sprinklers just ruined it for me.
It's a pretty short course, I was either iron or three wood to a high wedge almost every par 4 and all but one par five was 3-wood wedge. Right trees on most holes was fun but bunkers were super hard and had little sand in them .
I was pretty unimpressed after all the glowing reviews I got from my local friends who play there more
Hi, u314160170061. Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. Your feedback about drinks on the course is important to us. We also apologize for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. With that in mind, we are working to best control pace and allow everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve. Thank you for playing Butternut Farm Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.

One of my favorites
I love butternut farm. Staff is incredibly friendly, course is in great condition, even in 2022 when we were in major drought, it looked good. Great walking course. Lot of tight and narrow holes, but the type of tight course that makes you a better golfer in the long run. I’d recommend anyone play here, great walking course as well. Enough hills to make you feel like you got a good workout in, but not so many you regret walking.
Thank you for your review, bsven03. We will pass along your positive experience to our team at Butternut Farm Golf Club. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Tight fairways but a good test of skill
This course is challenging with tight fairway and lots of trees. But it’s a fair test of your ability. Played from the tips and struggled a bit at first but eventually figured it out. Greens were in very good condition given the time of year and amount of play. Played with my wife in 3 ½ hrs. Downside is there was no drinking water on the course and no cart to offer anything. For a public course it was a steal to pay $35 midweek/ senior rate plus $15 per person for a cart. Worth the ride out to the area.

Nice place
Not real long but real challenging. Narrow fairways give it’s teeth

Shhh...
Arguably the best course seen for women...the red tees are in positions that will help women enjoy the course...
The course is in the process of getting new carts and that will make it even better...my buddy and I were testing the course for our group and by the second hole we were all in on coming back...
Yes the course is worth bringing along a camera for some great pix for winter screen savers...
And if you play the course just the first time...dont ask for any insight...in fact, you will probably enjoy discovering so many really interesting features...and challenges...depending on your tee selection...lots of great signage that you will need to follow...but added to the mystery of ...what is next thing we find?
Great pace...ranger roaming seen 3x times in round...one of the few 'active' ranger courses we have been too...nice to see but no need methinks mid week...for the week end folks, remember too, there a lot more of newbies due to CV19 and with it, one must 100% set realistic expectations for week end rounds...protocols are still being learned by the new folks...think how wrong it is to have four folks looking for a ball hit into the woods rather than at least one golfer swinging...or, playing read golf vs honors...or even knowing the courses 'pace of play' tempo...
The deck shown in the picture does not do justice since it over looks the 9th hole and cant wait to get back here...we have placed this course on our rotation, and truth be told, will be back very shortly since the group and wives(see female course friendliness above) are already to go asap...

Tight and Well Kept
The course was in great shape and played long. The fairways were nice and rough was long enough to make it interesting.
