Highly recommend!
Great day out on the links! Still treat patrons as if it were still the Country Club.
Well worth the Price
The course was in good shape. The tees and fairways could have been mowed but it was a Tuesday. I would have given the course conditions 5 stars except for the sand traps they needed to be raked. The staff is friendly. No drink carts during the week, but there are water coolers on a few of the holes. Pace of play was good. If you live in the area, it is worth a GolfNow tee time.
Thanks for the review and for recommending our course! We appreciate the feedback.
Turning into a Public Golf Course
I will always call it the Bay City Country Club. Unfortunately, BCCC is now public and it gets more and more 'public' every week. Golfers showing up with t-shirts on and no idea how to play golf. We (2-some) played behind a foursome who basically never let us pass them. Started on the back and waited for every shot starting on Hole. 17 until the end. The staff was incredibly nice and we asked them to speak with them and they did - miraculously speeding them up. The course was fairly empty prior to that, so it was just disappointing a 2-some played in 4 hours at Thursday 2pm. Greens are still good. Rough dried out a bit but great value at 20-25 bucks.
Sorry that you got stuck behind a foursome, but we are glad that you enjoyed both the golf and rate. We hope to see you again soon!
Shadow of Former Self
I've played this course before going public and it really is a shadow of it's former self. Upon arrival it reminded me of Caddyshack as guys were driving into the lot yelling, screaming and slamming on brakes of the carts. That being said members of the local university were there to check you in and get your bags on the cart and point you in the right direction. On the way to pro shop to pay you drive past a pool and hot tub filled with green and brown water. No big deal as I'm not here to swim. The greens are nice and big and a pleasure to putt on. The fairways have multiple patches of different grass and not in the greatest condition. There was a busted beer bottle on #13 tee box. The ponds look to be growing up with weeds. It just has the look that only the bare necessities are being done. Overall a good value for the money and what you'd expect from a course offering cheap golf.
We appreciate you taking the time to review our course and appreciate the feedback. We are actively working on bettering the conditions and hope that you will return for another round soon.
Still a nice course
Golfed here many times under the old Bay City Country Club name and always had a good challenging round. This time out was almost perfect except they had ball washers out that were empty, yes it is still April and it may get cold but filling them half way would have been better than no cleaner at all.
A Must Play
Course has a different layout than the rest of the courses around here. Mature trees with great sight lines throughout the course, only one blind green. The course flows very nicely, and is in great shape. Only issue was the bar was closed at 7, had to go spend our money somewhere else. Heard the food is excellent, but didn't get to try it.
This course has great features
This is one of my favorite courses. This is a very nice course with a great staff!
Very nice layout, not a back and forth course
We found the staff to be very friendly with pride in their course.
Wind made some holes quite long but the fairway cut still made the holes fair.
If back in town would make it a point to play again.
Less than favorable.
Staff were less than hospitable. The club seemed to have a poor demeanor towards outsiders. I would not consider becoming a member. Simple missed opportunities to retain a customer base like this based on such a lousily first impression will eventually cripple a floundering golf course. As a doctor and someone who would easily pull the trigger for a membership at a favorable club, I would gladly direct my money elsewhere.
Beautiful course with smooth greens!
I'm visiting Michigan and was able to get out and play a quick round here in the early evening. First off pace of play was great - I got 18 in 2 hours. I was able to hit some range balls (5$ for a good size bag) and a few putts beforehand. The course features both nice wide fairways and very tight fairways. The rough was grown making it tough to track down some wayward shots and equally challenging when missing greenside as it can easily grab a wedge. Cart paths are just around tee and green areas allowing golfers to disperse. I'd say this course is probably best to walk but I rode just because I wanted to fit in 18. Overall, quality course and challenging enough for a low handicap to be entertained.
Great value
Great value
Used to be a private club but with tough economy in Michigan, I suspect had to go semi-private. Course is nice.
Greens were in very good condition as were bunkers.
enjoyed the afternoon
Good course with plenty of sand. Need to be careful of fairway bunker. Liked layout with wide fairways, and big greens. Length makes. It challenging.
Best Greens in the area
Course is a classic country club layout with fantastic greens and well manicured fairways and bunkers. It is a pretty open layout however, large trees and strategically placed bunkers make this course a formidable challenge.
Lots of bunkers
The greens are in great shape and are extremely fast. Pretty long course. Better bring your "A" game if you wanna score well.
Great Value
At almost 6,600 yards from the white tees, this is a challenging well maintained course. Greens are very fast, undulating, and firm. It is difficult to stop the ball on the approach shot.
Overall, a very nice course.
this course offers an all around experience
The course has great fairways, sand bunkers well placed, fairly deep rough and large ,fast greens.
Beautiful course
Had an excellent time. This course is beautiful and challenging for the average player. It is a great value for the price, and is a must for everyone to give a shot.
Nice, but long
The course is in GREAT condition, and the greens are true, true, true. But the layout is challenging. Not a lot of water or hazards to get lost in, but even from the white tees, many of the par 4's play as long as a Par 5. The layout of the course also is such that the wind is almost always either in your face, or straight across. Only a couple holes with the average wind direction actually helping.
Poor Conditions
Upon arrival for our tee time, we were informed that we would have to walk even though we had paid for a cart. Playing conditions were very wet and understandable, but the way this was expressed to our group was very unpleasant and we were not reimbursed for our cart rental. Disappointed and most likely will not be revisiting anytime soon.
Get out and play
Course is in very good shape for early season. Greens rolled well and were not to fast, but will speed up in the next few weeks. This course has lost some trees due to the Ash Bore, but the course plays great.
Wally5445916 - Thank you for the great review and highly recommending our course! We can't wait to have you back for another round of golf.
