Terrible Experience - Rude Manager

The course was super wet, poor landscaping. The greens were inconsistent speeds - some fast, some slow. The group in front was super rude and refused to let a faster group play through despite two+ open holes in front of them. There was no ranger and I was told by the manager that as long as the course played in less than 4:15, etiquette was not important - you can wait behind the group. No food or beverage was open when we teed off at 8:15am. It is way overpriced for quality. There are a ton of better courses in the area. Do not recommend.

A Michigan Gem

I played Lake Michigan Hills Golf Club on 10/07/20. It has been at least 5 years, if not more since I have played there last. I do have to say the course is still as amazing as it was the last time, I played it. The course played tight on a few holes that require an accurate shot. The layout offers a variety of holes, doglegs, long and short par threes and fours. Everything was in great shape from the tees to the sand in the bunkers. The greens held very nice and were smooth and slick. If you are above the hole on the green, you needed to putt defensively. They are also adding, from what I can tell, some waste areas and grass bunkers to a few holes. The staff was very professional. The course won that day, but I cannot wait to come up there and play it again.

Very Nice layout & conditioning

Many tees/locations for various levels of golfers.
Extra large greens are smooth, yet a little slow (compared to championship courses).
Challenging sand, trees, hills, water. greens.
A great variety of holes- long/short, open/tight, straight/dogleg, uphill/downhill, etc.

Pleasant parkland layout

At 50 years old, Lake Michigan Hills delivers solid, relatively affordable golf. The opening tee shot, down into a valley from beside the clubhouse, gets the engine revved and while the course may be less than a thrill ride from that point, there are plenty of good holes. If management could address some tree issues, things would be even better, but if you're in Benton Harbor playing the likes of Harbor Shores and Point O'Woods, Lake Michigan Hills is a good, lower-priced compliment.

Rediscovered

We had played here before a few times over the years. The condition has varied. Yesterday it was in the best shape that I've ever seen it. Fairways, rough, bunkers, greens & tee boxes all well groomed! I salute the management & crew! Marshall Bruce is quite a character, but very efficient; got us around in record time! It's a great course which winds thru the countryside with lots of hazards, but fair. It was busy because it is nice & reasonably priced. The other nice courses in the Lake Michigan area are priced much higher & don't seem to get much play. I guess they don't want much play; just soak the suckers.

Nice Views

Nice views and friendly staff. The elevation changes are nice and offer some beautiful views. The holes are close together and the patrons have a hard time keeping their ball on the right fairway. The pace of play is very slow as you are constantly waiting for groups to play their balls on the wrong fairway. The course was in acceptable condition.

Gorgeous and long

The views are as good as the course. Cut out of old bluffs, the elevation changes are a fun challenge. Good fairways and great, huge greens. Staff is excellent.
