My Home Course
I live 20 miles from the Warren Valley Golf Courses but would prefer the drive to playing most anywhere else in the metropolitan Detroit area. The only change I would welcome would be a serious restoration and upgrade of the original Donald Ross designed traps.
GREAT DAY
IT WAS ONE OF THOSE DAYS THAT IT WAS GREAT TO BE PLAYING GOLF!!!!!
Classic
The starter Smokey will start you off in a good mood so don't be afraid to chat with him for a minute. I prefer the West over the East but you can't go wrong playing either.
Lots of History
Course has been a favorite of our family for years. We only get back to town once a year but always try to get in a round at Warren Valley. Prefer the West course.
My go to course
I like the challenges and it's a good course for sharpening your game. The staff is helpful and friendly.
Nice day
Golfed with a friend from Toronto. Had a nice round of golf on well maintained course. Would go here again especially with a Golfnow .com discount.
Decent track
Played west side. Windy last 10-12 holes.
Course was in good shape.
Greens were consistent.
Played in 3 hours 20 minutes.
Good pace.
Need cart person, more stock in pro shop.
RAIN !
West was in good shape. The weather was pouring rain for 6 holes but it was a great day. No backups and able to just enjoy the day. 18 in 2 1/2 hours. Better than 18 in 5 hours on a good day.
Turrible
This is one of the worst courses I've played on. The holes are all next to each other. The rough had grass left over from the cut job. I will never play here even if it's free. I have no idea what the other people on this site are talking about being a nice course.
This course should be closed.
Grass was long on the whole course. Greens looked like fairways. Fairways looked like second cut. Second cut looked like rough. Rough was out of control. Cashier was a total smart mouth while being very unfriendly.
Debatable
First I get there and you can't take your cart to get your clubs, after I went into pro shop. Pro shop is very nice and that staff member was very friendly. Went up to Starter and seemed nice, I asked how was the course, and he said perfect. I would give it 4/10 at best. He failed to mention all the dry patches and water. At the turn he approached my cart and asked why there is some much water. My exact answer was, "because there's so much "darn" water on the course and cart paths and it's tough to avoid." He then proceeded to tell me I was l lying and I was just a kid and shouldn't talk to him with disrespect. I then told him I was 22 played NCAA DII golf and worked at a nationally ranked golf club, and that I'm just telling him my said. Besides that signage is terrible, so you never really where to go. Like I said 4/10 and I won't be coming back.
Perfect weather to end the season
The course was generally in good condition but no ball washers and the tee markers were gone so it was difficult to find the different tees
great deal
Booked Warren Valley West on Golfnow Hot deal for $13. Drove from Canada. Got to the course and it was closed. Was advised by an employee to go to their sister course, Inkster Valley. Went there and they honored my tee time at no additional cost. That's how you do business. I have golfed at both locations numerous times and they are always more than accommodating.
Will do in a pinch
The rough was very long- but that may have been because of the season. Course was waterlogged so almost every shot involved a muddy ball. This was desperation- end-of-season golf! Not the best course, but for a last minute bargain- we "got what we paid for" so....
Not Worth the Money
Not at all what I expected based on previous reviews. While the day was awesome, the course was not even close. It was difficult to tell the rough from the fairway, the green had recently been aerated, and the course was not well marked. I would not have paid more than $20 had I known this. I suppose you pay for location instead of quality.
Great Value and easy access.
A moderately difficult course with a few rough patches which is expected with the summer we are having and the lack of rain. Greens were in good condition but players need to repair their pitch marks. Pace of play was good (2 ball)and we managed to jump a couple of places at the turn to our advantage.
A decent layout but having the west and east courses playing almost side by side was a little confusing at times.
A couple of water coolers might be an upgrade but overall, great value and will play again. The restaurant is good value, too.
Great! So glad you loved the course as well as the restaurant we can't wait to see you back for more.
We appreciate your feedback and sorry to hear that the conditions may not have been up to par. We have informed our staff and crews on the matter and are working hard to rectify the situation and make this the best Warren Valley GC possible for your next round.
