happy
this course makes you happy when you play it is forgiving and easy to adjust to good course to tuneup on /try new and varied shots draws high cuts and flighting aspects of ones game. good place to try new clubs yet score well
Good for money
We played the course “across the street” not sure what 18 that is.... lost about 3 balls in the rough. Some holes not sure where the rough ends and fairway starts. Looks like a lot of sand traps are being neglected and turning into grass swell. Greens are small and slow. I understand this all sounds negative, but that’s what most people look for on reviews... for the good, it’s been very hot and dry lately and greens weren’t burned out, staff was 100% accommodating. I’ve played better, I’ve played worse.... if this course is “below you” then stick to Warwick Hills, Oakland Hills, and enjoy your time on the Tour... The round was like $20 with cart, so... can’t complain. I’d be back, and wife said she’d come back too!
Just say NO!!!
Pace of play was horrible!!!
Informed the course ranger about the older folks in front That would not let anyone play thru and they had the entire course backed up. They chose to do nothing about it so we skipped half a hole and jumped in front to finish our Round.
The course itself needs some work, tee boxes are burnt up, the sand traps are more like grass pits with some dirt and the greens were slow and inconsistent. The staff was nice but pretty much useless except for cashing out in the pro shop.
Wet Day
Course was very wet due to recent rains, but playable. Staff always friendly. Overall for the price was enjoyable round.
Delayed start due to frost
Delayed start due to frost with no starters
Credit card machine down hand writing credit card numbers down.
1:00 pm no cook with hot dogs ready at the turn
No beer cart
Weeds
The tee boxes were weed filled and with little patches of grass. Greens not maintained either. Not sure why the fairways I was playing kept having the same guy mowing them when myself or others were attempting to play that sane hole. Maybe more attention to tee boxes and greens would be better R.O.I.
No love for the Jewell
I wanted to like this course and it let me down. The grass on the tee boxes long and shaggy. Grass in fairway not cut - long and shaggy. And the greens? You guessed it. Long, shaggy, and slow. For $32 it was in bad shape and really disappointing. To add to it- not porta potty or bathrooms. What’s a girl to do? Men can go I. The woods but women? So I DO NOT recommend for women unless you have a depends on or don’t mind going in the woods. It’s a shame. It’s not a Diamond I. The rough, it’s a very rough Diamond. Too bad.
The Jewel Of Grand Blanc
Decent course, good value for the price. The north side (Diamond) is much nicer than the south side (Onyx). Pace of play was very slow but you can’t expect anything more from a Wednesday morning tee time (a lot of elders).
Beware the “ Wobblers.”
This course and it’s pace of play is “DOMINATED” by a group of seniors called the “Wobblers.” They play in large group of 20-25. They hold up pace of play from the tee boxes, fairways, and greens. The do not allow faster players or singles to bypass them. They play Monday thru Friday’s. While on the greens they park their carts in a line across the front of the green. He only way to avoid them is to schedule you’re tee time before 9:00am. Each Wobbler stands around around and watches he other take his shot, usually a 30 yard hook slice. Beware you’ve been warned.
Complete Joke
Had a tee time at 1215 and pulled up to the tee box at 1212 and there were 12 carts lined up. The starter was absolutely useless, he wasn't pairing up groups based on their tee times and letting people play separately. 30 minutes later at 1245 there were still 5 carts in front of me and I turned around and went home. This place is a joke and I will never be back.
Pick your time carefully
Be prepared for lots of waiting if you book in a prime time. Booked 18 holes and a cart just for just myself on a weekend morning, and ended up stopping after 9 holes that took 3 hours. Typically was waiting for the group in front of me to tee off, and had the group behind me pulling up when I was teeing up my ball. When I was leaving, there were 7 full carts waiting to tee off on the first hole and this was slightly after noon.
Course design was nice. Not too many holes where you were in danger of losing your ball. Hard to tell some of the fairways from the rough due to how long the fairways' grass was. Actually lost a ball in it on one of the holes. Greens were fast and not too forgiving for a good challenge.
In all, if you can get a good deal on an off-prime time, it's a good course. Otherwise if you book a weekend morning to afternoon, plan to block out 6-7 hours for 18 holes.
Great day
Had a 930 tee time. Got on 20 minutes early.had nobody in front of me. 3.5 hr round. Course was in good shape. Greens well taken care of.. At a greens fee of 14 bucks it was a great deal.
Jewel
The jewel has been blessed by the rain fall this year, even so the fairways were hard and there was brown on some greens. Many sand traps have been left to grow grass. Some tee boxes hard as well. Had fun with my sons. Glad to play and found an early tee time here.
This course was overbooked.
I booked a Roy d for myself two days prior at 9:55am. I arrived at the pro shop to check in at 9:30. I was advised that I would be starting on the back nine due to a league. After playing the back nine I returned to hole number one and saw 10-15 foursomes stacked up at the forward tees on hole number one. The we’re waiting on a foursome In their league on the first fairway. I looked ahead to the par five number two hole and saw another foursome teeing off on the forward tees also. I returned to my car and unpacked my cart and left. I have no idea why GolfNow posted he tee times I selected because it placed me in the middle of league play. I guess I should be thankful to play nine holes even though i paid for 18. Thanks a lot!
