FUN
This was my first time playing Heather Highlands after hearing many great things about it. The course was in great shape for it being the beginning of May. The course was playing long but it made for a challenging round. The course has nice wide open fairways that are hard to miss and the greens have the right balance of challenging and easy putts depending on location. They didn't have any hot dogs ready in the grill when we made the turn around 11:30 so we weren't able to get any food there. All in all this course is a great place to play and I will be returning.
ok to spray it around
nice bang for the buck course was in real good shape
pace of play like at all courses is no longer enforced
Great mid-week play
I played on a rainy, mid-week morning. Finished in just over 2 hours. Course is in great shape and played very well considering the rain. Easy to get to, right off I-75. Well worth the trip from nearby cities.
Jon,
Thanks for your review. We strive evryday to put out the best possible condition for players just like you. Our staff appreciates your kind and honest comments. Print up this review and bring it with you the next time you visit. Thanks again,

Hidden Gem
I have been playing this course for years. It is one of my favorite "local" courses. The staff is excellent. They do a fantastic job with what they have. The course is always in good shape. Especially the greens. There are 4 sets of tees which keeps the course fun for all skill levels. I highly recommend the course. Great value.
Huge greens
Long and hard from the black tees, plays like over 7k yards. They do provide blue tees 6300 yards and white tees 5500+ yards so any golfer can enjoy themselves.
The greens are enormous and break a ton. Love the challange they provide. Fairways are always green and lush. Rough us thick, but you are not supposed to be there anyhow. Additional bonus is tons of old growth trees to cool off under in the shade on a hot July day.
Not run by a faceless corporation, the Owners are there everyday.
Always a great day at Heather Highlands!
I have been playing at Heather Highlands for several years, and I always look forward to my next time there! I have played both courses and am always impressed at how beautifully kept they are! My 6 year old daughter had the chance to partake in the junior golf program last season, and she absolutely loved it! She was given such wonderful instruction, and she was able to play "real" golf out on the Executive Course. She definitely grew in her golf game, from her skills to her appreciation of the game! We always have a fantastic time out at Heather Highlands!! The staff is the best also!!
great greens
Lot of clover! Greens were receptive. Building needs updating and some of the wood fencing to be replaced. Plays fun!
Bank for your buck!
This course presents enough challenges to keep you busy. The value for 18 with a cart on this course is very good.
Female Friendly - great course
Just a beginner and the first time at Heather Highlands. We let them know that we might take a lot of swings and they suggested using the front tees and to focus on having fun. As long as we completed each hole in 15 minutes, they said we wouldn't have a problem. And we didn't. There are a lot of women in the clubhouse and that made us feel at home. We will go back soon and play the shorter precision course. Great time and nice people.
Great value, greens are fast and true
Great value, especially before 9 am The staff is nice and the course is in great condition with some beautiful holes like 3 and 16
Don,
Thanks we appreciate your comments and review. Not everyone takes the time to leave a positive and honest review. Please come visit us again.

Very impressed - incredible value
This was the first time at Heather Highlands and I'll be back soon. I played on Friday on my way up north and they were swamped because they had an unlimited golf special and it was the holiday weekend. The staff was unbelievably pleasant and very efficient in getting golfers out. The greens and course were in great shape. It's a wonderful course and an incredible value. Highly recommend.
Greens needed rolling
Club house wanted driver's license number for checking out carts.
Great course, great value!
Well kept course with the friendliest staff. See Bethann at the bar for a drink and a smile! Good pace of play on a challenging course. I will definitely be back!
Great course, great staff, awesome value!
Heather Highlands is a great golf course. Always in great shape from tee to green. The greens are HUGE and generally pretty fast. Always roll true and are very receptive to both long and short shots. The course is fair but challenging. Like any course, if you aren't hitting it well, you will be challenged. Great mix of long and short holes. Staff is very accommodating and nice. By far the best value in Oakland county.
Great Family Course
I really like Heather Highlands because of the family atmosphere. With their kids play free program, I am able to bring my sons (9 and 7) and teach them the game without breaking the bank. The Executive course provides us with the opportunity to play without worrying about holding up others on the main course. It provides them with opportunities and enough challenge for me to hit my own ball.
Looking forward to coming here for many years to come.
Great Family Course
One of my favorite things about Heather Highlands is the family friendly atmosphere. The course encourages bringing out young players by have the kids play free on the weekends. I take my two sons with me and get them experience of the game and they keep asking when can we go back. Playing on the Executive course gives my boys and I the opportunity to play at a learning players pace without worry of holding others up.
I hope to keep coming back here with my sons for years to come.
Easy vs Difficult tees and courses
I have been here a few times and wanted to write an updated review from 2 years ago. Right when you walk in the door the experience is awesome because of the staff. Very courteous and helpful. This course has red, white, blue and black, championship tees. I believe the whites are short and great for average golfer. The blues are just right for your 5-12 handicappers. There is a good mix of hard (tree lined), fun (driveable) and easy (reachable par 5s). They also have a driving range and an executive course. The executive course is nothing but easy, short holes. Great for beginners and kids. You can even bring out kids for free on Sunday!! Find a great deal on GolfNow and it makes it worth the drive!!

Choices
I have played this course and wanted to give an updated review. This course starts with the awesome staff right when you walk in the door. The course has a driving range, championship course with red, white, blue and black tees, an executive course and a banquet hall. The executive course is an easy, short course to enjoy as a beginner or bring your kids out to. If you bring your kid(s) on Sunday, they play for free!!! As with any good course there is a good mix of tight, tough par 3s and 4s with trees and some easier par 4s that have room to miss to the right.
Great greens and challenging layout
This is a great course that's fun to play. The greens are Awesome. The trees and wind make HH more challenging than it appears and when the greens are fast, it's a challenge to get down in two. My wife and I have played Heather Highlands every year since 1986 and have NEVER had a bad experience there. It's our favorite course. The staff is remarkably helpful and friendly. Ralph is the greens superintendent (for 35 years) and we see him everytime we are playing - either spraying, mowing or just picking up loose debris. The course features huge, fast greens and some long difficult holes (like #9 and #15).
It is incredible that a great place can get slammed by a few people unfairly. The HH staff do their jobs well everyday while trying to accommodate everyone. These are good people that deserve praise for their efforts. I highly recommend this course.
Stephen,
Thanks for your honest and positive review. As you know we work hard to give you the best experience and value possible. Please ask for Deb or Bethann next time you visit - we'll make sure you get a couple dogs on the house.
Thanks again,
