Fun but challenging
The Rouge river runs through the course so on many holes you are hitting over water or bulrushes. In fact, on more than one hole, you have "trouble" twice before you get to the green. It is not a walkable course because it is too far between the holes in quite a few instances. It would be helpful if the course would put up directional signs for the holes. Too often you wouldn't know which way to turn to get to the next hole!
Inkster Valley
Course Layout is challenging. However, the bunkers need a lot of attention. Some have sand others we did not play out of because of rocks. Also, fairways and greens are in great shape. Clubhouse is not well staffed but those that were there looked like they were doing double duty, concessions and pro shop. Very limited in pro shop items. They were friendly and courteous. This course is a jewel waiting for better management.
Always a good play, need to improve bunkers please
Always have fun playing here guys, but please get the bunkers fixed. hard as a rock and weeds growing in some. other than that it is always fun to play.
Best Destination in Inkster
Course is an above average public course located in Wayne County Michigan. Layout is dog leg left friendly for hookers and a little tough on the slicer.
Outside of condition of the bunkers (poor, unplayable) this would be a 4-5 * all day long.
Slow! Slow! Slow!
Pace of play was terrible and ranger didn't seem to mind. Six hour pace. Had to leave after five hours and 14 holes.
Great experience
Vs the last few I've had at other courses
Great local course
The course offers a good variety of challenges but is open enough for a novice to enjoy navigating the different hole locations.
Abismal Sand Traps
Sand traps are terrible. Tee boxes could use some grass. Quite a few bad spots in the fairways. The airplanes are not an issue. The layout is pretty good. Lots of room to hit driver. I did not see any blind shots to par 3s. A few to par fours but that is not unusual.
More about the traps. No work has started on the traps. The best of them had crusty dirt in them. The worst were solid clay with weeds in the bottom. Not only are the traps bad or impossible to play out of, but they ruin the appearance of the course. I wont be back.
Falling apart
This course would be outstanding with what I'd deem "minimal" maintenance. The bunkers are completely unplayable, as the sand is now just baked mud. I'd like to blame it on the course being in a flood plain, but they've been like that for years. They are constantly filled with water because they are no longer sand and don't drain. Courses that cost $10-$15 have bunkers that are in much better condition (they're at least playable.) The grass at times is out of hand, but usually decent. However, there are many areas where poor drainage has left "holes" in the fairway. The tee boxes (given that it's only april) look like they've never been reseeded or repositioned a day in their existence. Again, cheaper courses have better kept fairways. If it weren't for the layout, this course would be worth $15 to play. It used to cost $40 when the course was in better condition. The fact they've reduced the price to $25 signals to me they have no intent on fixing these problems. For $25 I'd expect at least sand in the bunkers and a patch of grass to play my tee shot off of.
Once a gem! Now a disaster!
I once thought this the best course given value and layout! Last year at end of season I spoke to new groundskeeper and the company taking over the maintenance and they lied! Since then it has progressed to a dying hope! Every bunker was filled with weeds and water with takes still left inside half buried...all unplayable! The greens were brown....?!?! How when it's rained so much! And they had so many ball marks that it was obscene. Seriously people stay home if you can't do something as simple as repair your ball mark! Stay home and play checkers....overall disappointed and don't think I'll try it again. Sad bcuz it was a gem in the scarred area.
Great local course
Awesome course considering the surrounding community it's always my first choice.
swamp
Had light rain 4 days before we played, course was saturated. Huge ponds on fairway, rough was 4 inches thick. will never be back.
Cattails on almost ever hole.
Plenty of cattails if you don't hit it straight. Fairways well-maintained.
challenging course
enjoy this course, because it challenges your game. the course is well maintained, especially if you keep in fairway. greens usually fast,...
They are called bunkers, not sand traps.
