Nice Track - Bad Rangers
I had an opportunity to return to Thornapple Creek for the first time on a handful of years. The course was exactly how I remembered it, great shape and a challenging layout.
Unfortunately, the group ahead of us was a SIX-SOME, and held back the entire course behind them with extremely slow play. The starter and the ranger asked them to split up multiple times, but they just kept playing as 6. Rather than do something about it, the ranger just decided to let it go.
Very unfortunate for such a nice track, but a 6+ hour round of 18 is simply unacceptable.
Beautiful course
I love going there. it's well put together
The only bad review is the whole clubhouse smelled like dog. Other than that I could play there. Everyday.
great course for the value
Great course for the value. Front nine played slow. Very Friendly Staff on & off the course. Worth the 40 min drive from SE GR
ALWAYS A PLEASURE
beautiful and challenging golf course. loved the pin
placements. can't wait to play again.
Wet lands...
Course is great but holes 2-5 are in low wet areas that make it hard to even hit from the fairway. Cart paths are well maintained wood decking but getting off and walking to your ball gets muddy.
great course.
Front 9,was a little wet but most courses are this time of year
Beautiful and tough as nails
From the back tees you had better be strong and long for the back 9. In as good of shape as I have ever seen it over 20 years. Love the 'Augusta National' greens.
Course is in excellent shape!
The course was in excellent midsummer shape for playing in November! Leaf management was awesome.
Good value
This is not a course we usually play. For the price it was worth it. The scenery is beautiful.
Great price for end of season play
The greens had been arriated and had started to heal. The leaves had been managed, this course is well maintained. Not perfect but very playable.
Beautiful layout and in great shape
One of the best in the area. Not an easy course but very fair. I played this course 20 years ago and they have made some very good changes. Still need to keep it below the hole or your looking at 3 putting. Beautiful clubhouse and dining area.
Great course in Kalamazoo
I've played this course a few times, and I am always glad I choose Thornapple.
Tough greens
Hole placement was rough. Course was mowed and cared for well. We played early so we were delayed 30 minutes for frost. Great day, friendly people, groundskeeper was actually a little too friendly chatting at a few holes. Not a complaint, per se as he was friendly, just that we were trying to catch up with old friends. Thanks for the nice day.
very nice course, seanic, challanging.
been playing since it opened, very nice course. good vaule
Good course
Good course, Had group behind us a little pushy. We were playing at a good clip, but group behind rude and pushy. Like to enjoy playing golf, do not like someone telling us to hurry up. Takes the fun out of it.
Stay below the hole or embrace the three putt!
Thanks to golf now my wife and I have been able to afford to play some first rate courses assertions the mid Michigan area. Thornapple Creek is another gem in the crown of sw Michigan golf. The track is well laid out and could be walked if you don't mind elevation changes. We carted it on this outing. We found the staff to be very nice.
The course itself is well maintained, the traps are filled with fluffy lake Michigan beach sand. You'll be able to practice your fried egg sand shot without any problem. The traps did need some love from the grounds crew since people seem to think that those rakes next to the trap are for someone else and not them. The fairways were in good shape and wide enough to not cause to much pain from a push or a pull. The greens are were the real fun and / or evil depending on your putt ...sadness will happen. They are crowned, wavy and, undulating. Thankfully they were not lightning fast or real mayhem to the card would have happened. Just stay below the hole!
Thornapple Creek is a pretty course and if you're in K-zoo then by all means give her a go. You'll find out where you're at with your putting game.
Enjoy your round

Very scenic and very challenging
This course was one of the more scenic courses I have played in Michigan. I live in Illinois and have only been to 15 or so Michigan courses. Thornapple Creek easily found a place in my top 5 favorite courses that I have played in MI. Thornapple Creek was well maintained and extremely challenging for a golfer like me. I would definitely recommend this course to friends and plan on playing it again next year.
Always in great shape!
One of the top 3 courses in the Kalamazoo/Battlecreek area.
Lots to think about
First time player at Thornapple Creek ..... surprised by how undulating the course is. Definitely not a walking course. Well presented and well maintained. Enjoyment spoiled by slow and inconsiderate play by groups ahead. Only paid $22 (inc cart) through Golfnow ... so outstanding value. would gladly return again now I have some course knowledge.
Picture perfect facility
Very beautiful and challenging course. You will need to play this course a couple of times to learn the lay of the land and where you want to be off the tee to score well. Flags did not have prisms on them so my laser had a hard time giving accurate readings which is critical in club selection. Most shots into the greens were more club than you would normal use due to the continuous elevation changes. Greens and pin placements can make putting difficult. Most breaks on the greens were more than you thought. Overall a great course which I would recommend and look forward to playing again.
