Value over length
Great fun for the value. Several people let me play through. Finished my round in 2 hours. Good ego boost not very challenging. Made me feel like a real bomber.
$17 for 18 holes and I still left unhappy
Generally speaking, you can't lose is you golf 18 holes for $17... And then I played Pine Hills G.C.. This was our first and final attempt at this course and I was very disappointed. The mosquitoes were unbearable, and the course had obviously not sprayed. When your course is covered in wooded areas, you have to spray. There are no real cart paths, just worn down grass to show where people had ventured before you. In order to avoid long waits for our SCHEDULED TEE TIME, they started us off on hole #13, a 120 yard par 3. They had another par 3 that was 85 yards... from the BLUE TEES. The course layout was terrible and it doubles as a disc golf course. There was an actual confrontation between disc and traditional golfers in reference to who has the right of way.... on a golf course. Finally, there were putting greens, randomly dispersed around the golf course... including in the middle of the fairway on a downhill, dogleg left hole that featured multiple overgrown swamps and several dead tree stumps.
Overall, I normally love unique country courses with their little idiosyncrasies and small town feel. But yesterday, I just left feeling tired and disinterested. Pretty disappointing.
$17 for 18 holes and I still left unhappy
I wouldn't think that there is any way you can lose while paying $17 for 18 holes of golf, no matter what the conditions. However, I had never played Pine Hills. We arrived and parked in an all grass parking lot, similar to a backyard graduation party. The staff was friendly but the course wasn't run efficiently. In order to keep us from waiting at the #1 tee for our SCHEDULED TEE TIME, they had us tee off from hole #13... A 115 yard par 3, and that was not the shortest hole. Bad course layout, no actual cart paths, just dirt lines from carts that braved this course before us. A dogleg left par 4 with overflowing swamps all over it. They obviously had not done any form of mosquito spraying. and considering that most of the course is wooded, that's a must. I could go on, but what's the point. We took a chance with a country course and we got what we paid for.... I guess.
Forward tees
I played alone pace was very quick as no one was in front or behind me. I noticed course was under repair but greens were in great condition
Decent course for the money
It was sunny and warm so that is always a plus. The falling leaves made it hard to find your ball if you went off the fairway. Not much difference from the first to second cut in length. Small greens but well kept and rolled very nice and true.
good golf
the course is in great shape, is going thru some much needed upgrades, alcohol is finally being sold now.
New Owners, New Look
The course has new owners who have done a lot of work clearing trees and brush and doing a better job on the fairways. Greens are slow.
In the past we could bring our cooler and beer with us. Now they have a beer and wine license and bringing your own is prohibited.
Great course for a great GolfNow price
I had a great time playing this course the other day. I went out with 2 of my buddies and we got a great deal on the GolfNow app, and the bang for our buck was awesome. The course was in great shape -much of which was probably contributed to the mass amounts of rain recently, but nonetheless it was a great value. Recommend to anyone who wants to play a quality 18 holes of golf.
Good Value Golf
This course won't win any awards, but it's a good value run by friendly people. Good place for a casual round with buddies.
Needs a little work
The course was alright. The greens were extremely slow - to the point where you had to hit the ball fairly hard on a downhill.
There were putting greens in random spots throughout the course. But for $12.00 through Golf Now - it was nice to get out and play.
Cool small town course.....
Like the title says...cool small town course. Winds through woods and trees almost every hole. Average player could easily play from the tips. I play it several times a year always a good price. You'll give up a couple balls regardless of skill level some of the holes are harder than you think, even the two "drivable" par 4's. I'd encourage walking it ,but I always do.
Played here multiple times. Half hour drive each way.
Recommendations
I did like this course and would return. However, I have a couple suggestions for the golf cours.
1. The carts are gross and filthy they look moldy and are ripped and torn. (This would stop me from coming back)
2. The score card (direction of holes were not clear with the course.
3. Got lost on course not clear signange I believe for hole 8.
4. Need some kind of food especially for people who are playing 18 holes. Chips are not enough.
The course is fun and affordable.
Only 20 minutes from East Lansing, it's a fun and challenging course that will test your shot ability. The staff was friendly and loved the fast play as well.
