best value for a challenging yet playable course in the Lansing area
The green complexes are firm and very undulating. There are subtle breaks in even the most innocent looking putts. Approach shots need to be hit well to get close for birdie opportunities. The fairways are generous but tee shots need to be shaped to find the best angle for good approach attempts. Missing the greens in the wrong place can be severe.
The course is very well maintained, greens and bunkers.
I have played a few Michigan courses and this one is certainly a hidden jewel.
Course was well groomed and in good shape
I hadn't played here in about 4 years, but was surprised at how well it looked and the course played. For the value I got the tee for it was a good deal.
Royal Scot Golf Course
We got there early (7am tee time) to play a quick 18 we ran into a 9 hole league at hole number 14, could not finish our round. This would have added another 2 hr to our round if we had stayed. I normally just play 9 hours on there inside course. (27 holes)
Good course. Great price.
The course is well maintained, and for the price, I would say that Royal Scot is the best value for 18 holes in Lansing. Most of the course is straight forward, but there are a couple of challenging par 5s that will make you work.
Last time I played at Royal Scot, there was some confusion with the scheduling, and we ran into a league on hole 15. We were the first start in the morning (7am), and they weren't ahead of us on holes 10-14. We were sent to the pro-shop, and they let us play 19-27 to make up for the issue, but they were not very cordial about the situation. Perhaps we caught them at a bad time, because they had been very helpful during the other three times I've played there.
Early Morning Round
Got out for an early morning round by myself and was able to breeze through the course in 1:45 in a cart. Can't beat the price. Course is in good shape. Greens roll true. Overall a good place to play.
Course is well maintained and has nice fast greens.
The course is moderately challenging, well maintained with nice short cut fairways and fast greens.
Decent course
The course has 27 holes. We started at 19 and only played 9. I wasn't too impressed with the course overall but if you're looking to keep your score down it might be the right place for you.
Nice course.
The north nine is a great addition to add a nice challenge to your round. The course was in great condition. Get out early in the morning (7:30) and you can rip through a round in about 3 hours.
NORTH COURSE !!! ..... play that for sure.
Played here dozens of times. Its a close/good track. You need to play the "North 9" thats the 4th star alone, Its layout rivals any in the area. The "old" 18 is a decent stretch as well. They do steady business for a reason.
Very Nice Simple Course
I got 18 holes with a cart for 13 dollars, it doesn't get much better than that. Course was in good condition, greens and tee boxes very well maintained. I wouldn't have a problem paying the normal rates for this course.
Staff Very unfriendly
First and fore most is my review of the staff. We were treated like we were scum of the earth for using golfnow.com. Never have I been treated so harsh by any pro shop staff. I will never go back no matter what the reduced rate. They would have to pay me to play this mediocare course.
Fun, picturesque course
First off, it's a good deal. With the golfnow discount paid 25 on weekday - well worth it. From driving by on grand river, you wouldn't know just how scenic this course is. Plenty of variation hole-to-hole and lots of elevation change, two things I like in a golf course. Forgiving fairways, challenging greens. Bring a snack...the turn does not wrap back around to the clubhouse and I didn't happen to see a food/beer cart at any point during my round. Would definitely recommend.
Good Value at $15
Everything was in good shape. Greens had been recently aerated only minimal distraction
great value
a well-maintained, interesting golf course...don't let the shabby parking lot or bowling alley complex fool you...this is a beautiful links-style course with many interesting holes...while it's in the heart of Lansing, you get a definite country feel once you get out into the middle of the course...very pleasant experience and tremendous value!
