Deer Run
Rough is way too long had trouble finding any ball hit off fairway and that also made round long and exhausting. Course needs better upkeep and it would be ok for the $
the back nine is a challange
A good course with some challenging holes. The green speed seemed average and were in good shape. There were many dandelion seed blossems in the rough which made it finding the ball difficult at times.
Long course that keeps you striking the ball!
Really loved the layout and the long ball challenge. You have to bring your power driver and 3 wood with you if you want to score well. Love the challenging layout and friendly staff. I will back!
Longer than most
We chose this course because of the "hot-deal" that was available on-line. The course is very nice for the money. Length from the white tees was a healthy 6600 yards. Course layout offered plenty of hazards and trees to get in trouble if your not hitting it straight. Greens were in great shape, but a tad slower than most, but nice. Fairways and tee-boxes in average condition, and probably the most noticeable sacrifice versus a high quality course. A great place to play when you need an alternative to your regular course and don't want to spend a lot.
Great Value
The course was in its best shape I have seen in years. Staff is very friendly and the beer is cheap and cold! Deer FUN we call this place
Nice Country course.
Nice country course at a great price. Fairways and greens were in great condition and the greens are on the quick side which I really like. This is my second time at this course this year. At this price I will be back again. Great value for the money. Depending on the tee's that you use the course will play from 5700 yards to 7000 yards.
Casual 9 holes - lots of fun
After a long road trip, we wanted to play 9 holes to unwind. Walked on, grabbed some drinks and had an enjoyable experience. Very scenic, not too hard, easy going golfers.
This course was very nice
Everyone was very nice the greens were very fast super plush. A very nice pro shop an bar new golf carts it was a challenging course for the money I recommend playing it your next round out. An it was right off the highway so simple to get to.
Best it's looked in a long time!
I play here several times a year. They really have things looking great. Nicely manicured, greens are rolling great. As the previous review stated, if you have been disappointed in the past few years, try it again!!! The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Excellent!!!
Using golfnow.com has allowed me to golf more than ever with the prices. I enjoy using the website due to the fact I can try new courses for a cheaper price.
On to Deer Run. It was a great course, very well maintained. The back 9 is very long which is always fun. I loved this course. Will be back!
Staff was very nice
They had an outing run late, so our tee time was pushed back some. The staff way very nice though and we got some complimentary range balls and a free green fee for another round. Course was a little wet, but it was fun. A longer course too, which I enjoy
This course has improved
I was on a league at Deer Run a few years ago. I have to say that the course conditions, clubhouse and equipment have improved immensely. Forget what you remember about the course and head back to Deer Run. You won't be disappointed.
Good challenge
Played on a Sunday afternoon as a twosome. No waiting. Moved right along. Staff is friendly and helpful
Good course
I like this course and will totally come back. The back 9 especially is fun and has challenges.
Great course for the $
The golf shop and staff were extremely friendly, thank you Toni. The course was in good condition, no complaints at all. Nice big greens. Highly recommend if you want to get a quick 18 in with some friends and family.
Good course great time
Good course and friendly staff. Was wet but still a great experience. Good bang for the buck
Would have to pay me to play here again
This course was terrible mostly because of the quantity and lack of class of other players on the course. I heard yelling during my backswing and had my ball stolen out of my own fairway twice.
Additionally - the course is in awful condition. Most of the cups were not fully cut. The fairways were pure mud. The rough was way too long.
Rough was extremely long
Have played here before and was never impressed, but the course has actually gone downhill vs last time I played here. Rough was extremely long which made it very difficult to find your ball if you weren't in the middle of the fairway. The 2 best things about the round were:
- saw 6 deer run across the fairway into nearby woods
- had the course to ourselves, which made for a nice leisurely round. sad thing though... a beautiful Fri afternoon and nobody playing here. Maybe they all knew about the condition of the course.
Swamp
This course shouldn't have been open. There was a LOT of casual water, every shot was plugged. Driving range wasn't open, all greens were airated. We played the first day the course was open, owner admitted that the course was closed the day before our round, but she couldn't close our day because it "would kill them." Links course in the middle of a corn field. Go play somewhere with a higher elevation in early season.
Depends on when you play
This could be a really nice course but I don't think they have enough employees to keep it up to snuff. I play here quite a bit. Sometimes the course is in great shape, other times the greens seem like they haven't been moved in a week and the fairways and rough need some work. Other times, all is good. Granted, Iast time I played was mid-October and there were so many leaves you almost couldn't play. The lady in the club house needs to work on her PR. Rude is a strong word but makes you feel like you are simply in the way.
