Nice Course
I had a good time golfing Salt River. It was a bit rainy, but the fairways and greens were still playable.
Not good
Course is in rough shape. Wet summer has taken its toll, and doesn't appear that the course staff have done enough to maintain a decent playing experience. Multiple holes were unplayable due to muddy fairways, tire tracks, ruts, in fairways and near greens, etc.
Needs alot of work for us to go back.
flooded but greens pretty good
The course was extremely wet and tons of standing water. Needs some kind of drainage. Had a few days to drain and was like a river had been dropped on it. The greens are actually very nice. Great job by the greens keeper. I would actually play the course again. It's not a bad course. It was just soaked. It's not fair to judge based just on that. I'll prolly go again someday. Pace of play was not too bad. Course is not very difficult but it's still golf. They have a couple extremely sloped greens to up the challenge.
course is closing in oct 2014
sand not raked and rough 6 inches deep,no course up keep
first time to Salt River
I played this course based on a recommendation from a friend, and it proved to be a great suggestion. The course is full of dog legs and trees and just enough water to get your attention, and force you to use every club in your bag. $20 for 18 holes is a terrific bargain, but add to it the fact that it was a beautiful day and the course was in great shape and you have a memorable day out. A few tee boxes were chewed up, and one was 90% crabgrass, but overall the place was well maintained. Will definitely play here again, hopefully real soon!
lots of risk/reward holes.
Ball placement in fairways is important to go at greens.
First time
I am a beginner golfer. I was definitely challenged and I think I cried once. (haha) The one thing that I guess I didn't like was that there weren't real clear markers of the next hole because some were missing. At the 8th hole, we kept almost missing it because we forgot about the sign at the front of the green. In fact my boyfriend and his friend did that and ended up cutting off some holes from their play that way. Maybe put a sign up at the back of the green? Other than that, everyone was friendly and it was relaxed. People were out there having a good time without being crazy. Our golf cart seemed to have a starter issue or something because you'd step on the gas and it wouldn't go anywhere for a while. It was a little bumpier than others. What i really did love about Salt River was that the holes are spaced apart and we aren't playing on top of each other. That's unnerving. I love all the space. Overall, i would definitely go back.
Not sure why
Not quite sure why they charge so much the only reason is because it's the only course around say they dropped the prices that place would be packed and would have no money troubles, maybe not drop the prices but do a little bit of maintenance cut down some of the old dead trees plant some new ones throw a little bit(lot) of weed killer out there but that is a lot to ask. Good course overall we had a blast w/ friends
Green Fees
When I got to the course I had learned that the rate I booked and the rates for that day were the same so when I paid the booking fee it ended up coming out to being more money, so instead of paying just $20 it cost me $23, this should have been noted in the pricing.
Great value for the course
This course is not a "Cow Patch". Very interesting layout that can challenge any player while still allowing any handicap to enjoy. 1st hole starts off with par 5 followed with an elevated 2nd tee and then your off from there with more interesting hole to keep you challenged yet enjoyable! Well worth your time!!!
Nice rustic course
Great day great golf. The only thing I'll do different next round is play the blue tees, whites are pretty short with a few par 4's drivable
Decent course
The course was in pretty good condition. Although this sounds nit picky, I did not like the type of grass they use on the fairways. It felt like I was hitting off my own lawn that was cut really short. The holes greens and tee boxes are really close together and is troublesome on a few of the holes. Not a bad place for a $21 riding 18 round. I wouldn't pay more...
Not Bad
Course was in terrible condition for late May. Fairways should have been near perfect with all the rain we have been having this year. They were dry, and hard already, like late August would be. Greens were fast, and some were aerated, which should have been done a month ago. Overall course was in rough shape, but still fun, and a good price. It looked like a $28 course.
short & sweet
very nice course for the price, interesting holes with challenging greens. weather was terrible 20mph winds made the round more interesting will play again when the conditions are better. hot dogs were great for a buck & the beer was cheap
Fun especially for the price!
Very fun course. Seems quite short. A lot of different challenges. The dogleg holes are very tricky. A range finder would be great here because the pin seems a lot further away than it is.
Fun to play and close to the house.
I loved playing this course. It is not so real challenging but just enough to keep you interested. The price was perfect and we were not pushed nor did we have a long wait between holes.
This course has mostly soft greens
Soft greens, good value for the money, has some challenges
Staff and course need work.
Got to this course and was excited to try it out. Gentleman in the proshop was rude from the start, like he just wanted to get me out of the way. Went to warm up at the putting green and it was awful, patches of dirt, no actual holes just old crummy pins. Started playing the round and ran into backups and more patchy fairways and greens. On top of that one of the employees was lecturing me because I parked the cart just of the side of the cart path so people could get by like NOW he wants to care about course conditions. This place probably was good once but I will never go back there.
Value for the money, fun for the golfer
Lots to like about this course, gives you a chance to use your whole bag. Fairways were a little hard, but the course is well groomed and the pace was good.
The greens were very challenging and made the short game a point of focus if you want to keep yout score down.
