The pace was insane. Golfed 8 holes in 2.5 hours, didn't even golf the back half, so over booked!!! Won't be back.

Pace of play was extremely slow. Several groups backed up Not worth the money.

Expensive for quality of course
Layout of course was fine. Greenside bunkers were filled with grass, no sand at all. One teebox was an astroturf carpet you couldn't sink a tee into. Overall, I just expected more for the price. Would consider playing again if cheaper tee time though.

Slow
The pace of play was so slow only had patience for 16 holes. The guys in front of us blamed 4 women for slowing down play. They however never missed an opportunity to comb the woods for balls or rescue wet ones. When we called it quits and headed in the group in front of us had no one to wait for on 17 and 18 was wide open. Where were the rangers? The “offending “ 4some were coming out of the club house, their clubs already in their cars.

Awesome with maintenance!
This is another course that when it was created must have been pure joy to play, but it needs a lot of work and just plain care. All of the “sand” traps have grown to resemble grass bunkers and the ball washers were almost all empty or damaged. Carts were fine, but as seniors we played in the afternoon and should have been sent out on the back 9 first due to leagues. So one in our party quit after 13 holes due to a fivesome in a women’s league ahead of us. Very interesting layout and even moving to the 13 hole under the railroad tracks was interesting but in dire need of work. Also, number 17 is a drivable par four with a bllind shot dogleg right angle but no bell to warn the group behind. By God’s grace I drove the green but didn’t hit any of the women ahead. So you can see I enjoyed this course but it definitely needs better care and possibly new management!

Slow players
Seems like nobody enforces pace of play. Took 4 hours to get through 12 holes, had to leave early because of plans. You get what you pay for I guess. Very frustrating

Great course. Friendly staff.
I love Downing. It's a great 18 hole course that's always fun. Pace of play is a bit slower this year but it's early in the season. There's still some wet areas that haven't dried up from winter and spring rain but I expect that. We always have a great time here and the course is challenging but not to hard. Beginners and advanced players can all have a good time here.
