Slow Play
Got off early and paired up w/ a threesome. Group in front was slow and was followed by Ranger for 2 holes. After that we seemed to have hit a sore spot with the group. They probably thought we said something and now we went to snail's pace. Ranger disappeared and frustration set in for one in my group. Still managed 74 regardless.
Just goes to show, you always have idiots on a muni course and thats what I deserve for playing Sunday Afternoon.
Great little curse that everyone should play
This place was falling apart a few years ago but, new owners, looking much better and I have always loved this course but, even more now. Not super tough, back nine is really nice with the lakes all around, not fancy but fun and usually a good price
Very Enjoyable
The new owners have done a lot with this course over the last couple of years. The overall condition is really good now. The people that work there seem to enjoy themselves which translates into a friendly atmosphere. I have played the course four times all in under four hours. It's not a championship caliber course, it just gives you a very enjoyable day on the links.
Hidden gem
Great short course that is very reasonable priced!!!
Links of Crystal
We played the championship tees which totally changes the course. While this is a short course the championship tee placement adds a degree of difficulty that makes the course exciting to play. Definitely would go back.
Only OK & Short at 5,587 from the Blues
Links at Crystal Lake is an OK course. It's a Par 70 course and 5,587 from the blue tees. Two things I disliked about the course. The excessive ball marks on the greens saddened me. Hey golfers, have enough pride in the course and courtesy for the other golfers to fix your own ball marks and maybe even one or two other. We also ended up behind a VERY slow foursome. They let the twosome in front of us play through, but didn't let our twosome play through. They took 20 - 25 minutes per hole. After #11, we finally went back to the starter and he allows us to play 1 - 5 again. Staff was friendly, accommodating, but for the same money, I'd rather play another course, but if you want a short fun course to boost your confidence a bit, it may fit the bill for you. I shot even Par on the front nine. One bird, one bogie and drove the 274 yard #11 green. Hopefully you'll avoid the slow foursome though.
Not too difficult, good course for seniors or women. Enjoyable relaxed atmosphere, owner putting effort fixing and keeping course up. Very fair price and enjoyable to play.
Hidden Gem
Played back 9. Very friendly staff. Fun layout. will play again. Clubhouse had minimal purchase (hats, shirts, etc.) items.
I like this course. It fits my level of difficulty
The pace of play was excellent. I played by myself and finished in 3 hours. The only complaint I have is they are re-sodding a number of tee boxes. The distances on the scorecard are not accurate. I look forward to playing there again when the resodding is complete
Not a bad little course. First time we played it, a couple of surprises due to blind landing area's. Beer a bit pricey for location.I would play it again.
Classic links
This is a perfect "old reliable" course. Nothing flashy or out of the ordinary, but it's always enjoyable. A lot of wide open fairways and big greens. Very pretty scenery in the Fall. Plenty of fun holes. Great value! Friendly staff and friendly regulars make this a wonderful place to get away from the rat race and have a relaxing round.
Close to home
This course is 10 minutes from my house. It's like golfing in my backyard. A private Company bought the course from the city and changed it for the better. Great shape, challenging, peacefull. Good people.
Pace of play
The unfortunate issue was there were no rangers and we were a twosome and the people in front of us was a 4 some and they did not let us pass them. They spent 20 minutes on a par 3.
