Great Course
We loved the layout of this challenging course. Interesting course design and the holes got harder as the round progressed. Greens were fast and a bit tricky to read which made us think a lot. Lots of space between holes in an Up North like feel. This course made us think about our shots. It’s on the longer side too so not really a place for beginners. There was room to recover from shots that strayed off the fairway. Net is we can’t wait to play this course again
Stoney Creek Slipping
The Stoney Creek Metro Park is a great park to visit, walk, run, bike and play. The golf course is fairly easy with wide open fairways. Although I enjoy the course many of the tee boxes are in bad shape. Especially so on holes, 4,11, and 17. The greens are decent but many golfers apparently do NOT repair their ball marks.
Nice course for the money. Senior rate $30 on GolfNow
Decent course. I okay here 3-4 times a year due to proximity to my house. As a new senior (for some golf courses) I only paid $30 on GolfNow. Went out as a single. Met some really nice people and enjoyed my round, except the numerous 3 putts and shooting a 92 from the blue tees. So-so condition but the greens were nice. Normally a medium speed but this round they were quick. Overall great value.
There is no pace of play
They overbook and don’t enforce pace. Took 5.5 hours for about 15 holes I didn’t even finish. Other players are rude and stink up the place with slow play. The greens are ok on some holes and atrocious on others. The sand traps are mud pits
Very basic
They broke one record: I have got the oldest gas cart in Michigan. Other than that it is OK, but not if you have to drive more than 5 miles. Do not forget to add 10$ for the daypass of the Park.
Course in great condition. Enjoyed the trees and layout of the fairways. Look forward to next time out! Typical bar/grill but we did not stop for lunch. Course located in metropark setting so walking trails and beach available if interested after golf
Slow play kills the vibe
I have played this course numerous times before, but it seems pace of play is getting worse. It took us three hours to play the front. We skipped the fivesome ahead of us (and skipped a par 3) just so we could come up with a better pace. Not really the course’s fault, but makes for a long unenjoyable round
Awful Experience
Stony management did a horrible job keeping the pace of play moving along. The back nine was marginally better, but the foursome in front of us were drunk and loud. I know staffing is a challenge everywhere but course rangers are needed badly on the weekends.
I won't be going back to Stony Creek.
Sneaky Tough
Played the white tees so nothing super long. First time playing here. This course was sneaky tough. The fairways were cut narrow, the rough was deep, the greens had slope and speed. I will say some of the pin placements were brutal and the greens were pretty hard. Pace of play was miserable. Guy working the front counter hates his life. Beautiful course though. I’ll for sure play here again, just going to avoid weekend tee times.
Nice course great deal
Played a Wednesday morning. Course in great shape. Buzzed around in 3:30. Great place to play during the weekend. Awesome hamburgers also.
Terrible
This course should have been closed due to flooding. They had the front 9 open and back closed due to flooding, but should have kept the whole course closed. We paid full price to play the front 9 twice, and just left after the first round. We lost so many balls in huge puddles and they overcrowded the course. The staff was super unfriendly as well.
Do NOT play
Don’t think you’re getting a good deal here. Pay for higher quality elsewhere. Course was overbooked and poorly maintained. Slowest round of the year, way too many tee times available. Nobody repairs pitch marks or divots. Holes had not been moved or cut in days it appeared. Tee boxes were horribly uneven and covered with divots. I will never be back.
The course has a pretty setting.
Overall the layout and the setting was very nice, but the pace of play , tee boxes and fairways were terrible.
