This course is the best value in the area
One of the best smaller courses I've ever played before. Many of the holes are narrow and call for a very accurate shot. The course is maintained as if it were a private country club. Golf here and you will not be disappointed.
9 hole Course Has Closed
The 9-hole course closed last year during pandemic, only putting green and 9th green being maintained, the rest of the course is fallow.
Course has a terrific layout that’s fits nicely over the gently rolling terrain. It did not feel like there were any houses around me.
I hope they consider bringing the course back but doubt they would have the money at this point.
Love the course. Great value. Well maintained. Friendly staff
Love this 9 hole course!
Tucked away nicely and secluded for a metro area course. I saw only one building the entire way - no roads - no houses, nothing! Course is short but tricky with lots of dog legs and several upside down saucer greens. You really have to pay attention to your club selection here. Played for only $8 plus fees on golf now! Huge driving range next door. No bar/restaurant here but starter was great! Highly recommend this hidden track!
Trees, Trees, and more trees
Many overgrown trees everywhere. Even with a perfect fairway drive, the approach is almost always obstructed by tree branches. Limbs need to be trimmed back. I'm okay with the difficulty and how tight the course is, but still need to be able to use the clubs as intended for their distances/loft characteristics.
Beech Woods Golf Course
The course is well maintained , and fairly challenging for for the average golfer,. Cost is reasonable, even without Golf Now .com. The staff has always been very friendly and courteous. My wife and me love this course and play it as often as possible
This course was fun to play
I enjoyed the course & the price was just right. I would recommend it to others.
Construction
Couldn’t play but 7 holes because of construction. Should have been told.
Phatkat
Could only play 7 holes, no replay for 45 mi. Told me to call golfnow for a discount
Best 9 hole course in Oakland county.
I learned how to play the game on this course. It's my home course so this review may be a bit biased. But I've come to this conclusion because the course can be so tough but yet fair and I have met some of the best people on the course as well as off including my favorite instructor Terri Ryan. The course is not even 3000 yards but literally every hole has a safe shot and high risk shot off the tee. You will have hazards on both sides of the fairway on almost every hole. Too many people I believe have learned how to play on wide open courses that allow you to pull driver on every hole not learn how to work your ball around the course
I would tell anyone if you want to learn how to play golf first get lessons then harness your game at Beechwood. If you can play here you can play anywhere. .
Nice tight course
First hole is very cool. If you don't hit a perfect 5 wood
or long iron you will be too close to the trees which canopy the fairway, gotta go under em unless your back about 165 and go over em.
Tight and challenging and the greens are good.
Value for the money, not too busy usually.
The "golf pro" reminds you she is the pro and kinda hawks the course, weird.
Very cool nine hole track - surprising elevation changes - woods border almost all holes with no houses on the course - no bar or kitchen
Good value
Definitely worth checking out for a hot deal. Nice layout and a fun, quick 9 holes. Downpoured yesterday, so no carts, but it was very nice walking and the course held up very well. Some pretty narrow fairways, and a couple tough approach shots, but most greens are huge and easy to hit. Strategic, short course
Hidden Gem
I love this course. I wish it was closer but it's worth the drive. It feels like your in the woods up north. Course is plenty challenging for me and a great value.
Nice tight course
. Narrow openings abound and lot of trouble with trees and water if you go long and cannot keep it straight. Good course for strategic play
Expensive for a low-budget course
I chose this course for its 4 out of 5 rating which it doesn't even come close to deserving.
I was with two co-workers that needed to rent clubs. They understood that when you rent clubs from a municipal course you don't expect much, but they were given a bag full of terrible antiques that would make a mis-matched set from Goodwill look good.
The fairways were dry as a bone. In fact, the only parts of the course that weren't so dry that your ball would bounce off of like a cart path were the greens. Aside from the 1st hole, most of the greens were actually in decent shape.
Overall, the condition of the course was worse than I expected but not the worst I've ever played. That said, I would never pay $25 to play this course again. I don't even pay that much to play a beautiful manicured 9-hole course in Wisconsin.
Note: The price I paid was for non-resident with cart. The course is much cheaper for residents walking, but not many were walking when I was there. The pace of play was moderately slow, but we still finished in under 2 hours.
One last comment: The course is very short. I believe there was only one par 4 over 350 yards. Most were under 300.
Great secret
What a nice course, don't let the short yardage fool you it is tight and tricky.
Great condition, location and had a great time.
I will definitely be back, in great shape and played in one hour as wide open til 8th hole. Practiced my putting for a few minutes then proceeded to finish.
Love this course and will now be a regular.
You can't do better for $8 for 9 holes
Decided to try this course on a whim because it was close to work. Compared to other courses I've experienced in the area, it has a few features that really make it stand out:
- A good number of holes are not on top of each other
- Holes that actually dogleg and have varying terrain
- Wooded areas of dense trees
The gentleman at the desk was very friendly and helpful answering my dumb questions ("Which cart did you mean?" "Where do I put it back when I'm done?" etc). He did check for verification from purchase from GolfNow, but I was able to just show him the e-mail on my phone and it was completely painless. I really can't say enough about how awesome his attitude was--I've had enough grief from people at other courses.
Holes were well kept. The only rough terrain I had to deal with was when I was way off from the fairway. Some spots of the course are under repair, but I didn't see anything more than two spots and each one was smaller than two square feet. There were a few holes with water hazards, but it wasn't oppressive at all.
I managed to really speed through the round up until the last three holes. Then I got caught up in a log jam of people,. But really, the wait wasn't terrible at all.
Overall, a great course to burn an hour or two to get 9 holes in. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a go-to course for me going forward.
