About
The West Course at Forest Akers is one of two 18-hole courses owned and operated by Michigan State University in East Lansing. The West is the premier tournament layout for the Spartan golf teams and also hosted the Division III Women’s National Golf Championship in 2021. The rolling and forested layout was originally designed by Bruce Matthews but was extensively renovated in the 1990s by Arthur Hills and received further updates in 2010. In the early 2000s, a new clubhouse and hotel was built on property that altered the routing of the golf course. There is also an extensive practice facility across the street at the East course and accessible to the public. The West Course is considered one of the Midwest’s finest, public-access campus courses and one of the best layouts in the Lansing area.

Great course but some damage.
Good condition today but there is some flood damage. Need to pick up ball marks more from divots. Make sure u know directions 2 the West b4 tee time.

Where is my Ball
Too many leaves on course, cannot find ball, but it is October in the North.
Layout
Great course!! Have to hit all the clubs in the bag.. greens in great shape.

Course conditions were excellent, staff was excellent, round was excellent. Had a great time.
Great layout
Fun to play! Have to hit every shot cuts draws. Pace of play was great played with my 3 boys and done in 3:45 on Sunday afternoon.
Go Green
Xcellent for the price and people. Course was well maintained and has multiple options for tees and I’d recommend you go green tees if you’re a 10 to 15 handicap.
