Great Stop To/From Northern MI
Very well-maintained course. First three holes are a small loop by the clubhouse and are very open. Hole four goes into the woods and definitely tightens up a bit, but not as much as the ranger warned us about. Very different from 1-3 though. It was about 85 and sunny so made for a long day. The end of the back 9 doesn't have a ton of shade and goes back adjacent to a neighborhood so some good scenery. Greens rolled true and no areas that needed work. Pleasant change from the metro-Detroit courses getting a ton of play. I highly recommend the course and it's 15 minutes off of I-75 near Frankenmuth.
Very good course conditions
The Timbers has a very nice layout— we have only golfed here a few times over the last five years due to playing conditions. That will change now as Management and staff have updated this golf course and are taking excellent care to maintain a well conditioned golf course. The Timbers can now rival The Fortress as a good go to golf course in the area and for much less money!! Keep up the excellent work!!
Can’t beat the value
First time golfing here and I will be back. Definitely enjoyed the course tough but pretty fair. Tight in areas with a lot of dog legs. Half the price of the fortress and still in as good of shape!
This is a Positive Review
I traveled 1.5hrs to play this course based on a 4.9 Golf Advisor Rating.
I was disappointed. Not because it wasn't a good course, just it wasn't a 4.9 course. Strong course just not 5 star. Probably more in range of 4.1. Putting Greens but no range. Pro shop carries basics. Course was in great shape just not 4.9 shape. I would say everything good about The Timbers is in the actual course. Everything else was just ok.
The Other Frankenmuth Course
Found this little gem on the way home from "Up North". About 3-4 mile from the center of Frankenmth. Nice track and conditions were very good. Greens, fairways, and tees all look like bent and were in really good condition. Don;t get up here too often, but will certainly play again.
Shot placement rewarded/great greens
This is a great course and greater value. You are definitely rewarded for shot placement and thinking shots through. The greens were perfect and rolled true. It had rained hours before and the course drained well. This course has that up north Michigan feel.
Great Cinditions, Great Price, Great Time
I've played this course many times, and will continue to play it for many years, every time I'm in the area I like to play this course. The staff is very friendy. The conditions are great and the course presents enough challenges for players of all skill levels.
Great Greens
Most of the course had tree lined fairways. This may have been the last weekend with bright colors, which was nice. This is not a course that will ever make a best in Michigan list, but is maintained very well and the greens rolled incredibly true. Note, fairways did not have a single fallen leaf on them.
fun course! some risk/reward opportunities. This time of year the colors were really nice.
The falling leaves were not a problem, the course is very well maintained. Some holes were tight but fair and other holes you could spray the ball and get away with it. The greens were really nice for receiving shots and for putting. I would play there again for sure!
Many challenging holes
Every hole was different. The back 9 had 3 par 5s. Water on some holes, marshes on others. Very scenic. Their restaurant even has daily specials. Not just hot dogs.
