Great value for the money

Played this course for the very first time in September 2020. I played the front 9 and was very happy with the course condition and layout. They were just starting to aerate the tee boxes but I was just ahead of the person doing that work so I was unaffected. The front 9 is really pretty and moderately challenging. I'll definitely go back to play here and am looking forward to playing the back 9 as well.

Cramped

The course is in pretty good shape. Greens rolled true and the fairways aren't beat up in the slightest. Staff is scarce but you don't need to go too far to get help. The reason I'm getting on to write this review is because the course layout is not only not ideal, it's dangerous. Golfing on a busy Saturday, you can expect to have a shot or two head your way, everyone hits bad shots from time to time. But at Brookshire, my group was hit into EIGHT times, and not one single time was it the group playing behind us. I've played at least 50 rounds in the last 6 months, and I would say the 5 closest times I've come to being hit by someone else's golf ball all happened to me in the same round at Brookshire. They've put 18 holes into a space that should probably only fit 12 or 13, and because of that, it becomes dangerous to play on a busy day.

For anyone that wants to play this course, keep a head up on the following holes:

Hole 2 green: Any drive that goes right (slice for righties) off of #1 tee is probably landing on #2 green
Hole 3 tee box: Any drive that goes long of the 140 yard par 3 2nd hole is landing on the tee box.
Hole 4 tee box: Any approach shot long of hole 3 green is landing on the tee box.
Hole 5 fairway: Any drive that goes right off of #4 tee is landing in #5 fairway
Hole 6 green: Any drive that goes right off of #8 tee is landing close to #6 green
Hole 8 tee box: Any drive long and left of #9 fairway could reach tee box
Hole 9 Ladies tee box: Any drive left off of #8 tee is landing close to ladies tees
Hole 11 tee box: Tee box is less than 15 yards directly behind #10 green
Hole 12 fairway: Any drive that goes right off of #15 tee box will land in #12 fairway
Hole 14 tee box: Hole 13 is a drivable par 4 and hole 14 tee box is 10 yards right of hole 13 green
Hole 17 tee box: Hole 14 is also a drivable par 4, hole 17 tee and hole 14 green share the same cart path, you can connect the dots there, any drive left of the green on #14 is landing on #17 tee box.

Today was the second time I've played the course and it's the second time I've dealt with being hit into. Gave it another chance because it's a gettable course that you can score really well on, but I won't be back because I'd rather not be seriously injured just to play a decent round of golf on a meh course.

Of course this isn't any employees fault at Brookshire, but our round was severely impacted by golf balls raining around us. Only heard a FORE call twice out of eight shots that landed within 10 feet of our cart. Not nearly enough space for 18 holes and $41 in September isn't worth it.

Besides that, the food is great and I'd rate the drinks a 6/10.

Need better course management

Either people were being told to start on hole 10 with people making the turn or their were multiple groups that didn’t care about pace of place. Either way there needs to be a ranger on site to speed groups along. It’s was a group consensus for us not come back.

Hello and thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. With an uncharacteristically full day, we work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and allow our guest the chance to complete their rounds. With that in mind, we are working to best control pace and allow everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve. Thank you for playing Brookshire Inn & Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.

Poor clubhouse employee

Payed on-line for my foursome with my son and his buddy before they start their first day of college. The clubhouse was locked and they kicked our tee time back until 9. No biggie. We went into the clubhouse to get some golf balls and look around, get the keys to the cart. As my buddy is paying for a few sleeves of balls the employee says start signing your carts out. The sheet was for the previous day so I ask would you like me to use a new sheet ( Simple question ) he yelled back at me that he had just got here. Then proceeded to throw the cart key at me. At that time three others walked into the clubhouse as he the employee stormed out. I followed him and told him what I thought. As for that it elevated my blood pressure and I drove the first hole about 310 straight down the middle. Course conditions were okay but we will never play there again due to the poor service from the clubhouse employee.

Great golf

I like how the course plays like two different golf courses, the way the front and back are laid out.
I wish the bunkers didn't have such large stones in them, but I guess I should stay out of them. Great golf and atmosphere.

Get your sand wedge ready

This is a beautiful, challenging, yet fun course with lots of bunkers and water hazards. Strategy and accuracy are a must.

Admittedly, I was a little unnerved by the sign at hole number 1 that advised golfers they were responsible for any damage to neighboring homes. Seriously? You put an amateur's golf course in your back yard! Deal with it.

Fortunately, my initials aren't on my golf balls and my swing lessons are working. Hopefully, yours are too.
