A little investment would go a long way
Let's get somethings out of the way: The pace of play was very slow, largely because this was unexpected golf weather and lots of people decided to get out and play (myself included). The course conditions looked like they were set up for the close of the year and hadn't planned to maintain the fairways until the spring. Again, due to the unexpected weather the course was understaffed with no starter and only minimal help in the clubhouse which lead to a long wait on the first tee and slow pace of play on the course. I'm willing to give them a mulligan on this just because on Nov. 8, 2019 we had 4 inches of snow on the ground!
I loved the layout on this course! The front nine is more open and invites risk taking but the greens are quicker than they look and still fairly protected. Accuracy is demanded in a second shot in order to score well. The back nine absolutely requires accuracy! Number 10 invites driver with probably the widest fairway on the back nine but the rest of the back makes you question pulling out the big stick. The risk reward question will come up quite a bit.
The conditions of the course and practice facilities might have been impacted by playing golf on day when I'm sure most courses were planning to be closed. Even still, the greens were covered in so much sand that putting was questionable at best. Ball marks hadn't been repaired and on more than one green there were large strips of turf pulled up that looked like a greens keeper went over the green with a rake or machine that stripped turf up. There are a number of tree's that are set up in the fairway either near a tee box or green to add challenge to holes. Many of those trees are dead and need to be replaced.
Again, timing may have had a lot to do with the conditions of the fairways but they seemed very long and in many cases the fairways weren't much shorter than the rough. One odd part about this course, specifically playing in the fall, because there are so many pine trees mishit balls weren't hard to find. There are some broad leaf trees scattered throughout the course and especially along the fringe of the rough but so many that balls hide under leaves.
Again, the timing of the round meant that the grill area was closed but there was a young lady grilling hot dogs and burgers that were fairly priced, and quite good.
Timing aside, I think with some moderate investment and repair to the course this could go from a fair to average public course to something really special.
Manager Issues
Manager tells me because I was late, my tee time was voided. Only 15 min late. He waits on the 10th tee to harass people. Even tried to force people to ride on a cart together despite CoVid. Plan on getting a hold of the owner. This guy needs to get dealt with. Going through other reviews, our party wasn't the first to get it at the 10th. In the end, he tells us to not ever come back. And I have 2 separate confirmation numbers for 1 player, 18 holes apiece. Made 3 days apart. So how were we to get charged for an extra cart? It was all under my name because I made the 2nd one for a friend. But it was still 2 separate orders made 3 days apart. Straight harassment. And when do they VOID a tee time because I was late??? And if that's the case, why are you just wanting an extra $10 for a cart........instead of me paying for the WHOLE THING again????? Never heard of a voided tee time. Worst case scenario I've ever experienced.
Horrible conditions and pace of play!
Called clubhouse about pace of play and they did nothing!
Do not play here if you like to golf
If you like to golf, stop now. If you like to sit in your cart and watch amateur golfers and their children tee off, this is the course for you. Went on a Saturday, 2:10 tee time. Tee off at 2:40 because of the line of 10 golfers (2 walkers) on the first tee. Played 3 holes in 80 minutes, got a rain check because we just couldn’t do that. Guy in the pro shop says “that’s Saturday golf bud”. Took the rain check back the next day, got thru 11 holes in 4 hours.... left the course at that point and will never be back. Almost forgot to mention the extra $28 I was charged because the rain checks didn’t cover a cart (before 2 pm I would assume is the reason for this). So yea if u like to golf go somewhere else cuz “Saturday golf” here is 9 hours a round.
Great course... that has gone down so much in the recent times
This is my favourite course to play every weekend in 2020, until the August hit and suddenly everything seems to have gone up in flames. Not sure if it's the End of Season Rush or what but the pace of play has been obnoxiously slow for the last month. I am guessing they're overbooking causing the delays. Also due to the said overbooking the course is starting to show the sign of overuse. All the short Par holes Tee areas are in shambles.
This is one of my favorite courses and I really hope they stop overbooking.
Slow/over booked/fairways not maintained
The course was over booked with only 4 minutes between each tee times. At times there was 4 groups waiting to tee off, absolutely terrible. There was no marshal enforcing the pace of play. It was hard to tell the difference between the fairways and the rough since they were the same length. Could only finish 9 holes due to time 345 minutes for the front 9.
Beautiful course
It’s my first time, it’s bit difficult greens for first timers but really enjoyed, I highly recommend to check it out.
Needs work, greens fast!
I played this course back in the 90’s while walking and it seemed to be in better condition. The fairways were almost like rough, but I liked the layout. Plenty of dogleg holes, but needs tree trimming. The back nine is much tighter and the greens are fast with many undulations and tiers. Could be an excellent course with better maintenance.
So so course. A bit dry. but it hasn't been rain in awhile.
Normal price is overpriced. If you can get a deal rate. it's worth trying it out.
Greens are best feature of the course
The greens were in great condition but the fairways were not mowed and ranged from mushy to pretty firm. Course is pretty narrow and on the front nine there was a lot of waiting while other golfers hit from our fairway. The tee boxes are mostly uneven and sparse from all the divots on many of the holes. The staff was friendly.
