Unfortuneate Bad Weather
Great looking course, but it was very cold, windy, and rainy/snowy this day, so the course was very wet. Neat looking layout though. Wish we could have played more. Staff was great, and friendly. Took care of us since we didnt finish. Cant wait to play in mid summer.
A gem in the middle of the prairie
I had driven by this course while in the area a few times and was surprised at how busy it was for a country course. But now I can see why. The staff here is very friendly and they have a great setup.
Electric carts, GPS, pin information, firm - true putting surfaces, and 27 holes are just a few of the special characteristics.
The Boulder 9 is a fun test and seems to be popular with everyone as it was the only "busier" 9 when I played mid-day, during the week.
You'll enjoy it.
A wolf in sheep's clothing
On the surface, it looks very much like any other goat pasture type course. The practice green and modest driving range would give you the impression that this is a short course that isn't very challenging. This is all debunked by the first hole on any of the three different 9 hole courses here. The greens are rock hard and super fast. the rough around the greens is very thick, but not super gnarly. When the wind picks up, and holy wow does it, it becomes almost links style in it's approach. Toss in some elevation changes and you have a very difficult round. The Boulder course is the nicest of the three and the most challenging. If you are down for a serious test, play here in the wind. Worth the hour drive from Minneapolis for sure.
Albion Ridges - Granite 9
Course was out in the country, among the nearby farms. Incredibly quiet - zero noise all day from airplanes, highways or anything else.
The undulating terrain made for a more interesting layout. Not many flat or bland holes. Water hazards on five of the holes, one being a small creek.
Pretty wide open. Not many trees, most of which were small, with an abundance of rough and plenty of fairway. However, the rough was appropriately thick and punishing.
Greens were fast and very soft. They were in good shape with very few ball marks considering how soft they were and how busy it was. However, they were very undulating, the most challenging part of the course, in my opinion.
Bunkers were in good shape with real sand.
Excellent electric golf carts with GPS for detailed yardage breakdowns for each shot.
It was very busy. Pace was on the slow side, but nothing ridiculous.
Outhouses on the course but no drinking water.
Clubhouse was pretty basic with no bar so beer only.
Worth the drive
Great course with the best greens in the state! Pace of play is always good. If you are going to be in the Annandale area this is the course to play. there are 3-4 other courses near by but this one is the best. You won't be disappointed.
Fantastic and entertaining
Played all three nines and do not have anything negative to say about any part of our experience. The best kept greens, fairways and tee boxes I have played on in many years. A very entertaining and playable layout. If you transplanted this course in my area they would be charging $100+ for a round. My foursome has not been able to stop talking about how much fun we had. If you are in the area it is a must play for sure. A family run course with extremely friendly staff. Go check it out!!
Great course and great value
Excellent value. Course is in great condition. Fair for all levels of players. I would recommend this course.
Great Course
The course was in great shape despite all of the recent rain. The greens were rolling very smooth
Albion Ridges
Great track! Fun and challenging. A good test for the average golfer. The clubhouse is friendly and they have a decent driving range.
Golf in MN on March 22. No Complaints.
Albion is a perfect place to open the season in MN. It's a decent course that was open, dry, cheap, easy and quick.
Albion Ridges Granite and Boulder
Great place to play with friends at a reasonable price. Well worth the drive and the course is rarely too busy. They have 27 holes here although I like the Boulder 9 best. Greens were fast but in excellent condition and the recent rains have helped keep the fairways immaculate.
Enjoyable Round
Bolder is the more interesting of the two nines we played. More
hazards, but still approachable. Played white tees. Challenge is
easily increased from longer tees.
Course is well maintained! Overall a great time.
Albion Ridges gem
Beautifully maintained, playable for range of skills, and low cost.
Surrounding open Minnesota fields is a big plus.
Tough pin placements!
This course is in great shape, as always. The greenskeeper must have had a rough night. Every hole the pin was placed in the most brutal position. Some were just plain unfair. My only other complaint is that there is no beverage cart. You can't tell me you can't find a young lady who wouldn't make a fortune out there in tips. We had to suffer through 2 hrs with nothing to drink on a warm July day.
Hidden Gem
The course was in much better shape than I thought. Sometimes these out of the way courses can be dog tracks and aren't well maintained due to the cost. However Albion was a pleasant surprise. I played all three nines and I think Boulder is the better of the 3 (the one across the street). The carts have GPS which is always nice. Nice course and value for the money. Some greens are very undulating.
Very playable course
The course (tee boxes, fairways, rough, sand traps and greens) was in excellent shape. I played 36 holes (18 paired up with a twosome and 18 alone) in just over 6 1/4 hours. The staff was very cordial and accommodating. The value was excellent. Will definitely go back again.
A Gem of a Course
Course, especially greens, in excellent condition. With rain in the forecast very few golfers and speedy pace of play. 3:05 for 18. The rain held off and we had an excellent round. Modern golf course with electric carts and built in GPS range finder.
Nice farmland course
The panoramic vistas are the sprawling farmlands that are southwestern Minnesota. With plenty of elevation changes to keep you on your toes (I'm 26 and in decent shape, I'd pass on walking due to the undulation), Albion Ridges is a fun little course. Playing at only ~6300 from the tips it won't challenge you to be long on more than one or two holes, and there are many opportunities for scoring. Many of the holes are set up with heavy risk-reward driver carry scenarios, which I personally love (If you aren't long, don't worry, there are always options around 180 yards). If you hit a well placed drive/approach, you will be contending with red numbers all day.
Overall I would have to say I would play here again, in part because I parred the "Rock" Course....and... let's just say I would like another shot at "Boulder" haha.
