Nice Front, but don't look Behind!
Reading reviews from others, Dad and I decided to make a day of it coming out here from the southwest Metro. The clubhouse was nice and their hot dogs were very good.
But the course itself (behind the clubhouse) seemed beat up from lack of sun on tree-heavy holes. It was also very difficult from the fact that sight lines were poor from the elevation changes, no forgiveness for off-line hits, and the fairway and rough were hard to distinguish from afar. The affordable price offsets any shortcomings, but definitely not my first choice to play up north.
Friendly and helpful staff
Mark was excellent he handled my reservation issue and was very friendly and knowledgeable in getting to the bottom of the matter. I would recommend this course to anyone who likes great service.
One of the best values around
Love the course and for the price it's the best buy anywhere near the Twin Cities. Very pretty and wooded too. I also like that it's not as busy
First play
Established course with mature trees. Lots of elevation changes and dog leg holes. Some holes require something other than driver from the T. The T-boxes were extremely hard. I could not even push my flexible plastic tees into the soil (had to switch to wood tees). Not terribly long but straight drives are important.
First time playing WP , would go back. Great design
Great place for golf!
Finally got out to Annandale to see this course. Had a blast! Originally a 9-hole, Joel Goldstrand designed today's 18-hole layout about 35 years ago. It's one of his better designs with fun-but-playable holes and a great deal of challenge for even the best golfers.
What you can expect:
* very interesting looks on almost every tee shot
* a few risk/reward propositions early in the round
* narrow, unforgiving fairways on some of the back nine holes
* a variety of par 3s
Enjoy!
Great pre-season play
Came out opening weekend and had a great time. Greens ran true for early season, and the course was clean. Will be back soon!
Fun, Affordable
Like everything about the course. 19th hole, is nice. The only tiny draw back for those of us who haven't invested in a personal gps, is the cart gps doesn't have spot yardages.
